    Hull ID number

I found mine stamped on the wood frame where the generator covers lift out. I was working (what else) on a wiring problem, and as I was slowly lifting me head facing forward on the boat to get out of the engine compartment, there it was.

    RDP-38-0503

I also found the Coast Guard number painted on the metal frame.

Mine is etched into one of the beams in the engine room in front of the battery.

    Roamer Hull numbers

I am new to both the forum and soon to be a new Roamer skipper. We are looking a one of the rare 74ft rrRoamers designed by Roy Hunt and Derecktor. The question I have deals with the date of manufacture of the hull verses the completion. In the CC Essentials book it shows only one of these completed with a hull number of RM 74-505. On the data with the craft we are considering, the hull number is RMP 73-0501.1. What is happening here? I cant find anyother big Roamers like this. Is the 505 the real finished craft number and the 501.1 the initial hull or prototype desoignation or are there actually other boats like this out there? Where would we find the protocols used by Roamer and CC to number these yachts?
    Any thoughts?

I also have been looking for the Hull ID No. of our recently purchased 1963 C.C. Roamer (Comet), aluminum hull; evidently the one I was given might not be correct. Anyway, I looked on the the lid or jam, as mention above by "Scully" above, and found this number stamped into the wood G34 205, or what I guessed as this number (the G and the 3 not easily identifiable). What could this be? the number supplied with the insurance information was SR22031 or SR 22051 (both showed up on different documents). The reason I want to know, other than just to want the correct number, is to help find 2 new struts; the existing struts are too old and corroded to identify stamped numbers on them. Thinking I may need to fabricate new ones. Whew!

63ROAMER - Like "Scully", found mine on the starboard engine hatch interior frame on a strip of metal just like he shows in his picture. It should read RXE 27-0XXX. My Comet is a '63 as well, RXE 27-0618. Nice looking Comet!

My guess would be yours is a 73' and not a 74' which is probably the same boat more or less but an older model and yours is hull number 501 and when they re-styled or re-modeled the boat later...or possibly totally redesigned it, it became a 74 and that was at hull 505.

KyRoamer - I've looked all around that area, will keep looking. Do you have an aluminum hull? Wondering if the RXE has significance to what the hull is made of; or, does it have to do with it being a Comet? What does RXE stand for? Thank you!

On my 1963 Silver Comet it is stamped on the port engine stringer at the cabin bulkhead and on tags, forward starboard hatch.
