Has a gen-set ever been installed?

I'm assuming your trying to stay with 1964 equipment?
A newer unit may weigh much less.

I would highly recommend buying a new unit. Not only are they much lighter. You cannot get many wear items/replacement parts for that 1964 ONAN.

I have a 1980 Onan and have had a difficult time obtaining simple water pump rebuild kits, injectors ( Diesel ) High pressure fuel pumps, Fuel lift pump rebuild kits and the actual replacement pump cannot be had through Onan. All are obsolete.
My only recourse is a new genny or a pump re-manufacturer/ repair shop.

    I am considering replacement.

rcrapps- this unit is in like new condition, it is up and running only 20 hours on the meter.
Capt J I know parts are hard to come by but, I have access to a stock pile of parts.
chesapeake46 my Onan is gas with opposing cylinders, so weight is not that bad.

Ah, the 6.5kw gas genny, opposing cylinders, single down draft carb.
This would probably have been the gen-set that would of been installed.

Look for old sales brochures and manuals that may have a diagrams or pictures of one installed.
Was there an old Roamer web site or Chris on-line museum?

Or, your just going to have to find a well ventilated spot on your own.
They do run very warm. You will need good clearance over the unit to service it.

Install lots of CO detectors on board. CO & emissions were not real words when this monster was designed.

When handling and installing GAS options, don't cut any corners short.
The life (lives) you save could be yours.
