Hi, new member here, I have just purchased a Carver 350 AC with Raritan electric flush toilets and they do not store any water in the bowl. I have heard that this may be normal for these toilets but it doesn't seem right, the water just goes straight to the tank. Also there is no room for a vented tube. Anyone have this issue? Is this a raw-water system? If so it's normal. Salt water or low tide water stinks. The vent should be near the tank.
Which model do you have? The most common model (at least what I've seen), the Atlantes has an internal vent cap that for downhill discharge plumbing needs to be removed to leave water in the bowl. It could also be a clogged vented loop flapper (if installed) on the discharge causing a siphon that empties the bowl after flushing.
Some of the newer heads can be programed on the remaining water. I just learned this on a Tecma system.
I am not sure of the model, will have to check when I go back. There is no vented loop, just a straight discharge hose to the tank. I think I have a parts diagram on board, thanks for the reply.
Yes, I just installed 2 new Marine Elegance toilets on fresh water flush, and they don't normally store water in the bowl after flushing unless you hit the fill button.
We installed one several years ago and it always leaves water in the bowl, fresh water flush or raw water flush. Depending on the flush water pressure there are some timer adjustments that can be made that determine for how long the flush water runs.
It would help to know the model or at least the year of the boat. If it's a Crown model, it will leave a little water in the bowl but not much. When you push the button, the same motor activates both the discharge and raw water impeller at the same time. So while the raw water impeller is bringing water in to help drain the solids, the discharge impeller is evacuating the solids and water that's coming in. The reason there is a little water left in the bottom (very little) is because as with any impeller driven pump, as soon as it starts sucking air, it also stops pumping fluid effectively.
