I was wondering what kind of Fresh water pumps everyone is using and if they are happy with them. Time to replace the old one and would like to get rid of the tank. Thanks for any advice.
It's helpful to know how many fixtures and how many water users are on the boat typically and the old pump details and if you were happy with the performance of that pump.
We have the 2 Staterooms/heads on board. Plus the sink in the galley. Typically 3-4 people on board. Typically do not stay on the hook for very long.
The best setup is to have both a DC and an AC pump assuming the boat spends most time on Genset/shore For use with AC or Genset you can't beat a shallow well pump... About $200 and will last forever with good flow and pressure. On the DC side, the midrange shurflo are ok, for just two ststerooms you don't need anything fancy.
I use a 12vdc Whale Accumulator Pump with Tank for almost 3 years now, and I'm very happy with it! Compact and always some water, even when de 12vdc is shut off... And for around $200,- a good deal!
I like the Mach 5's for AC, the Headhunter DC pump is VERY good but overkill for your needs. I just installed the Jabsco variable speed DC pump in a boat and am very happy with it.
