There is currently a feature in an online yachting magazine. The render of the underwater viewing pod between the shafts looks epic.

There are indeed rumors that MY A is for sale.

If this is true I wonder how long it takes until they find a buyer who appreciates the radical styling so much that he is willing to spend the required amount of money.

I don't think it would be so hard to find a buyer for MYA based her external styling, but that interior is an acquired taste.

I met with Nobiskrug at FLIBS. There's a good chance we'll have images inbound on both "A's" in 2016.

The last time I saw her in person was in december 2015, when I flew over the yard. She was looking like this.

Almost completely under cover again and some major work going on. SY A has not done any sea trails since then. This is normally not a good omen. A very large, complex and risky project for any yard.

That's what I was thinking, it's now coming up for five months since that very public revealing (complete with exclusive stories in some yachting publications) and we haven't seen her or heard anything about her since- that suggests they found something that needs some serious work.

This is sailing yacht "A" in March 2016, 6 month after her last sea trails in September 2015. Without releasing any inside knowledge, I can say, there is still some heavy work going on under this covers. Not a normal process of ship (yacht) building, one might say.

The delivery date has been postponed for sure. Unless this is caused by changes wanted by the client, such occurance is very often accompanied by the ugly words "contractual penalty"!

Just as expected. As innovative as this vessel might be, it´s most certainly a painful experience for the engineers and naval architects as well

Seems like these large sailing yachts have had some problems lately. I have yet to seen Aquijo be under sail, Project Solar had its delivery pushed to this year, all unfortunate.

Most of the other very large sailing yachts were pushing technology to its limit and sometimes beyond at their time of build. With the advance in technology and new materials and production methods boats were getting bigger, masts were getting higher and the the single sail area larger and larger. The load on the standing rigging and spars of modern sailboats would have been impossible only a few years ago. But on all new and radical designs, form still tried to follow function at least to some extend.

But this project is purely driven by design. Every technology, naval architecture and even aerodynamics and hydronamics have to subordinate under the design. The client, by inking the contract and the yard by accepting the order for this project have now to live with it.

I press all my 4 thumbs :D for a good outcome of this project. May it still look like, we have seen it during its last years sea trails. Up to now, I have no idea how it will leave the Baltic Sea with its air draft.

One of the Danish Straights - the Øresund Straight upon which Copenhagen sits - is unencumbered by any bridges as the Øresund Bridge is completed by tunnel in the last couple of kilometers. So, there's no air draft limit to enter or exit the Baltic Sea.

The Drodtge Tunnel, you are reffering to, was not build for the airdraft limit free crossing of the Øresund. It was build, because any superstructure of a bridge would have been producing a dangerous obstacle for the Copenhagen Airport Kastrup. The waters above the tunnel are not very deep (at the very most less than 23 feet). Bigger ships cannot use this open space between the artificial island of Peberholm and the northeastern edge of the Airport Kastrup. As none of my ships can use this opening, I even did not think about it. And if Sailing Yacht A would be able to use this passage (would be great if they could, as it would save a lot of money and trouble) under certain wind conditions (water being pushed into the Baltic Sea from the north, they would need permission and clearance of Kastrup Tower, because they would block the final approach.

It would be great, if this passage will usable for them but I doubt that.
