hi everyone, been awhile since ive posted anything.
wife and i decided to keep our 58 riviera and continue her restoration.

ive been looking for replacement fixtures for my lighting through out the boat, and find them all to be 32 volt fixtures.

not being an electric guru....i am confused when i was told that these systems are basically 110v a/c systems...can anyone help elaborate on this or help point me in the right direction.

where can i find 32volt replacements or can i actually use 110volt preplacements.

    yes, i am confused

good news is spring is around the corner.

    regards,
    neil

I think mainly what you need to worry about is the voltage of the bulbs going into the fixtures, not the voltage of the fixtures themselves. That being said, you'll want DC fixtures, but those are prevalent in both 12 and 24/28 volts. You should be fine getting 24 volt fixtures and sticking 32 volt bulbs in 'em. 32 volt stuff is hard to come by these days - we still have our 53 Hatteras running 32 volts. Hopefully this helps you some.

That's correct. You just have to make sure the type of bulb the fixture uses is available in 32 volts. Most halogen bulbs, and others, from what I've seen, can be found in 32 volts, they're just often hard to track down. A little use of Google and I'm sure you'd be able to find what you need. Just be sure you can get the bulbs you need before you buy your fixtures.

The Hatteras is a 1973 MY. We've had it for about 20 years and it's been a wonderful boat. A lot of good memories. It's for sale of you want one (you know, in case your current project isn't enough work for you). :)

Glad to help! I'm not sure that I have any current pictures of of the Hatteras on my computer, but I'll check. It's definitely a project boat as it stands, unfortunately, because when we got the Sunseeker, the Hatteras kinda took a back seat... Good luck with everything!
