    Crossed thru da lake in June. Keep in mind the locks close at 1700. You won't have a draft problem.

    MOST boring crossing EVER. The Seven Mile bridge is worth the extra 250 +/- nm. ;)

    Cool, will research that and see if the water levels are good enough to plan a West to East delivery.
    My drive today was 209 miles each way, but dog-leg through alligator alley.
    Perhaps a straigh(er) line with a boat, 190 maybe, at 10 knots max.
    19 hours and a night stop in the country side. Clewistown seems to ring a bell, inspected a sailboat there 12-13 years ago.
    Homework needed and coming up..

    Everywhere is beautiful...you just have to figure out how to see it. I had no interest in Okeechobee. First year and a half here always went the Key West route. But....

    I thoroughly have enjoyed both of our trips through. I enjoy doing the Florida loop. There's fun to be had at Port St. Lucie. The canal from there to the lake has some interesting aspects. But then the lake itself. The nature, the beauty, the alligators. Then do some fishing along the way. We're not big fisherpersons, but we sure enjoyed fishing with the guide from Roland Martins. Okeechobee is fine for a fast trip through but a great place for a relaxing escape for a night. Leaving, we enjoyed a night at the Moore Haven City Dock and then we fell in love with Fort Myers our first time there.

    Now if you don't like it, that's fine. But we didn't think we would and we did. It's not Key West (and we love Key West) but a wonderful part of boating for us is seeing different areas and it is their differences that often makes them special. We're people who prefer to run outside over the ICW and like to run faster. Still we do enjoy the occasional trip through Okeechobee and the habitat we get to observe.

    Yes of course the tower can be removed. Holes should be filled, faired and painted. Those old 31 berts were battleships. But others may not agree. Not a fan of Cummins but they are certainly a good engine, especially if they are fresh rebuilds. Be sure you can verify that. Some folks thinks a new set of injectors equates to a major.

    Not looking at the Bertram anymore, kind of decided on an Albin 28 TE.

    A marinized 6.5 GM diesel. No one wants to work on them out of the water, I can't imagine anyone wanting to work on them in the water.

    I have one (100k miles) I'm pulling out of a suburban if there is a buyer, replacing with a Cummins. I didn't do myself any favors with the above statement but somebody likes them somewhere.

    Looks like I am going ahead with the Albin 28 TE.
    For those who say it is not a real fishing boat, or a light-weight.

    I don't fish, except diving for lobster and conch.
    Exited about this little boat, hope the survey comes out good.

    Speaking of new boats.
    Is there any reason to have the Albin 28TE documented?
    Previous boats was documented but part of the reason was financing.
    This boat I am paying cash for.
    Any difference in check-in procedures back in the U.S. when returning from the Bahamas? Same custom sticker and just a phone call to the CBP folks for a non-documented vessel?
