    Hi

Just like to start by saying a big hello to one and all. Looks like a cool place to hang out! :)

Myself and my father have just purchased a 2003 overmarine mangusta 80. It's just been re-furbed and great condition. We were originally just thinking of chartering her out in the summer in Europe, and enjoying her the rest of the year for ourselves.

However, we are also looking into maybe the winter season in the keys/Caribbean. We have found a shipping company which are quite reasonable so really I'm just after some sound advice. Pros and cons etc..

    Thanks guys/gals

Awesome! Share some pics. 80 Mangusta is t a super popular week charter in the bahamas as doesn't have the space of a typical 80'. But you'd likely get some. Hear day charters in miami are fabulous for these.

That is a much better boat for the Bahamas than the Caribbean.
Also was the first yacht I captained in the mid 90's.

Be very careful of "cheap shipping companies". Some will delay, delay, delay for months if not a year. Sevenstar and Dockwise are by far the most reputable and you get what you pay for.

I know someone who shipped a Cabo. He was the only drop at his destination so they decided to skip it. The ship drove around with his boat on deck for another three months before they came back and off loaded it.

It was actually dockwise I have been in contacted with.

So which one would you guys recommend the Bahamas or Florida. High % of occupancy being the priority!

I'll upload some pics once i get to the office!

Talk to a good charter broker out of South Florida and ask them which market it would do best in. Day trips in Miami would probably be a lot more wear and tear than week trips. I would tend to think Nassau/Paradise Island would be a good spot for that boat, but I'm not in the charter business nor know much about the bookings.

You may also want to PM Pascal here. He has experience out of the Miami area and is a helluva good guy.
