Second set of pictures with some details:

    IMG_0014.JPG
It looks like a DE setup, also the ship has a conventionell propulsion system, maybe with electric motor, twin shaft, props and rudders. Most likely VPP props as it looks like on some earlier pics from other sources. If so, 7 Genis and one more dirty mast in the future. Hopefully (for the crew) foldable or retractable like on Topaz.

    IMG_0015.JPG
I start to like her. Almost 10 ft deck height, fluent lines, well proportioned. Sufficient outside deck area. Nice SOLAS or PYC yacht.

    IMG_0016.JPG
That looks like the home of a SOLAS life boat / tender. On the right side of the tenderspace, parts of a davit system can be observed. Below the standard Luerssen boarding platform with access to the main staircase.

    IMG_0017.JPG
Wheel House located on the main deck. Extendable or fold down wing station.

    IMG_0018.JPG
Large tender bay wth fold up doors for at least two 35 to 40 ft tender.

Peter Lürssen confirmed previously that she is equipped with Lürssen's combined diesel-mechanic and diesel-electric propulsion system (CODMADE).

    IMG_0019.JPG

The cover of her final name definately looks longer than the word Tatiana.

    IMG_0021.JPG
Interesting foredeck. The area in front of the wheelhouse is recessed and hosts the SOLAS rescue boat (can be seen on earlier pics) with a fold down cran. The forward part of the forecasle shoes a concealed service deck with mooring balcony and the heli deck above. A must, as the new rules forbid SOLAS rescue boats in front of the crash bulkhead.

    IMG_0024.JPG
    That badge really looks familiar.

    IMG_0029.JPG
Very interesting stern. Two large rounded stairs lead down to stern platform with fully glassed handrails. Must be tough glass to be SOLAS certified. Two large doors on port and starboard open upwards and large passerelles pivot out about 150 degrees with access from the stern platform. They look like the platform passerelles from Fassmer.

    IMG_0033.JPG
A fold down balcony on the main deck forward the tender garage and one more side passeralle. A lot of interesting features. Looking forward to more intersting things after habving seen the first areal pictures of her.

Milow, combined diesel-mechanic and diesel-electric or vice versa combined diesel-electric and diesel-mechanic (CODED), is just the industrial phrase for a Hybrid propulsion system.

A mechanical diesel engine with gear, shaft and propeller has a combined power take-off / take-in (PTO/PTI) on the reverse gear with an electric motor / alternator. The system can produce electrical power with the mechanical engines while propelling the ship. The ship can be propelled via the electric motor(s) on the reverse gear(s) via electrical power from the ships diesel-generators and the mechanical engines can be boosted by the PTI-motor(s) via the diesel generators. On single engine merchant vessels it is called a shaft generator. A proven thing.

A pure DE setup would not have a mechanical connection between the diesel engines and the ships propeller.

Even Azzam has a kind of hybrid propulsion, as the diesel generators drive the the azimuth thrusters and the pump jet(s).

All companies (like MTU, Rolls-Royce, MAN and Wirtsala) offering intergrated propulsion systems, do have these hybrid systems in their portfolio.

The only real new and much simpler thing would be a complete DC ship (like proposed by Wirtsala), where AC power is only produced for parts of the hotel power.

A little update on Tatiana / Golden Odysee.

That is definately a storage with launching davits for a SOLAS life boat. But that compartment is longer than needed for one life/rescue boat and has an additional swing out davit for something else.

Btw. I was told by some people camping on the river bank, that several spotter were taking areal pictures and videos with quadcopters during the transfer of Omar yesterday. So, keep an eye open on youtube and the web for hopefully great areal views.

But there was more activity at Lemwerder. Ice / Air was moored at the Lemwerder quay for refit.

I love ICE. Ten years on she still looks the business... purposeful & timeless.

Ice is one of my favorites but Tatiana/Golden Odyssey has grown on me a lot. She's definitely one of the best looking monsters that Lurssen has launched recently IMO.

Monster is a good description for such giant yachts. But Golden Odysee still looks like a well designed and proportioned Yacht, whereas Omar looks like a cruise ship; just massive.

Ice either had a perfect refit or is a very well maintained yacht. From distance, she looks like new. Would be nice to get some info about her reliability and repair record as far as her diesel-electric-Azipod propulsion train is concerned. Prior delivery, the yards engineers had to invest a lot of thinking and a unknown amount of coffee :), in order to get her working properly.

It's just interesting to know wether the owner of this New "Golden Odyssey" is the same as the Old "Golden Odyssey"?
And will the Old one ought to be renamed?

It would be logical to assume that they have got the same owner. The old one is now called "Golden Odyssey II"

In the photos HTM09 posted previously of Tatiana/Golden Odyssey it looks like the bridge/wheel house is on the main deck, that would be an unusual arrangement for a yacht, the bridge is usually at the highest properly covered point. The only other yacht I can think of that defied that convention (reportedly) is rising sun which has the owners deck above the bridge deck...?

The deck where you can find the Bridge on Tatiana is actually called the upperdeck. But you are right this is rather uncommon. I can think additionally of Pelorus, Dilbar and Radiant where the arrangement is the same.

Yes, sorry, of course, I should really read what I write before hitting post!

Come to think of it, if I recall correctly, both A and Royal Romance have accommodation spaces above their bridge decks.

Since the owner of this new "Golden Odyssey" is the same I do suggest that the new "Golden Shadow" of comparable size should follow.
Got any rumours on this subject?o_O

Had some business to attend in Bremen today. Accidentally I ended up in the vicinty of Luerssen :).

A few little updates on Tatiana (Golden Odysee ?).

two close ups of her multiple hull doors.

The yard was pretty busy with Tatiana. There was multiple work going on on all decks. Her paintwork is amazing. Luerssen really insists calling her Tatiana, please not the name on the cover (for the sea trails).

    Second set of pictures.

A closer look at the bridge deck. The retractable wing station can clearly be seen and 2 foldable cranes on both sides of the bridge. Most likely either for lowering toys or usable as provision cranes.

    GO Bridgedeck.jpg
Next one is a closeup on the Solas Life Boat storage. Pretty beefy davit system. The hinged door in front looks to (together with the swing out davit) me, as the storage for a Solas Rescue Boat. The two foldedable cranes on the foredeck seem to small for that business.

    GO Lifeboat storage.jpg
A pretty big fold down entry platform with a kind of bar or pantry (like on Optopus).

And below, I think, is one of her Solas Life Boats. Big fender ring around, the open cockpit is covered with orange canvas (called partially enclosed fast Life Boat) and the sterndrive(s) seem to have a cord nozzle type safety ring around the (Duo) props. Looks like the boat came from Yachtwerft Meyer (just around the corner) and/or Fassmer.

    GO Solas Lifeboat1.jpg
    GO Solas Lifeboat2.jpg
If you look at the bow and at the rear part of the hull, you will notice the Solas conformal automatic suspension points, which correspond to the distance between the davits on Titania.

For a combined Solas Rescue and Life Boat these boats are probably to large. That's why I assume, the smaller fast rescue boat(s) live(s) in the space in front of the live boats.

Far beyond my personal scope of a yacht but I really like this "Boat". Great and timelessly beautiful design, soft lines and a lot of interesting features. The only thing, I would have done different on her, is the postion of the main mast (gets to dirty there). I hope, we will see her and her future Golden Shadow a lot on the seven seas.
