With the talk recently about the difficulties of designing nice looking nice looking mega/gigayachts, I thought it might be interesting to hear which yachts over 300ft are most pleasing to the eye of other members.

Or, if you wanted to approach it from a slightly different angle, if you were having a 300ft+ yacht designed, which yachts would you use as examples for the styling of your own?

    Hi Ben,

What you are asking is which one of these yachts we like most?

    Dubai/Project Platinum
    Al Salamah
    Rising Sun
    Octopus
    Pelorus
    Le Grand Bleu
    Lady Moura
    Carinthia VII
    Limitless
    Al Mirqab
    Tatoosh
    Evergreen

Other large yachts are the older ones, like Savarona, Atlantis II, Christina O and some converted cruise ships.

    My favorite is Pelorus.
    Beautiful megayacht, a real headturner:D

But.... the Abdul Aziz not to my taste now but anything that can be the worlds largest superyacht for over 20 years is quite impressive.

And the interior styling is stunning, and a dancefloor that turned into a pool -
I might be bias, as we furnished it

Fun topic. Though what a time for ************ to be down, digging up photos of all of those took over an hour on my lame dialup.

I agree with Orion, the design of Pelorus is just stunning. Easy winner there.

Al Mirqab, Carinthia VII, Octopus, Platinum, and Tatoosh are all plenty attractive. Each with a little different personality. I would be hard pressed to break those down into a ranking.

    I agree with you Kelly.

Although I love the lines of Limitless and would put her near the top.

Not overly keen on Al Salamah (140m Lurssen), I think its the width, and she is just abit plain looking at her . Can't imagine what the luxury inside is like though.

I would certainly give Limitless an E for Effort. But wish the front half had been handled with the same skill shown in the back half.

Yes thats them, thanks for the list AMG, very inconsiderate of ************ to close right now.;)

Personaly I'd have to choose from Pelorus, Octopus and Rising Sun as my top three, with Rising Sun being my overall visual favorite.
To me her lines do have a certain grace and beauty unmatched in any other yacht.

It's a very close subject, but I hoped to aim this thread purely at the visual side of things, almost being a design thread, but not quite.
This is why I limited the choice to yachts over 300ft, as they seem to be some of the most contraversial.
At this size mistakes are amplified, but so are the rewards for getting it right.

I think it's a fun topic Ben. Though the difference between a monster like Platinum and a "mere" 300 footer is sobering!

It is a pity that Athena is not 6ft longer (she's "only" 295ft), because she would be my choice. Perhaps the Lurssen project Eos is over 300ft ?? Rumours go she is a little bit larger than Athena.

Anyway : I have to make my choice between Limitless and Lady Moura....and the votes go to........Limitless.
Reasons ? Same as you all (her lines...) but also : I love blue hulls.

My favorite is of course Limitless. But I also think that Lady Moura is still a very nice design and she was my inspiration for the lines on Pandora. At 555 feet she is maybe three times the volume of Lady Moura...

My favorite is Limitless, a dark hull and beautifull lines(by a late master).
Carinthia VII runs a close second.

The darker hulls are just a little sexier than a white hull.

I was stunned when I saw that first magazine set. And she still gets that reaction everytime I see a new photo.
Not what I would pick for myself, way too much for me, but still stunning anyway.
Build me a 300+ with the look and running ability of Eco/Katana/Enigma and I would never look at another!:D

Octopus, Oh sure. Who can afford a $250,000,000 play toy??? Well I guess Paul Allen can. Way too large for me but she's a beauty none the less.
