I hope a few SEALs have quietly put together a high end armed security service and consulting business. It seems that in addition to infinity pools and submarines, new superyacht construction may need to build in non-lethal and lethal security to protect their owners, crew, and guests. There seems to be no end to the worthy and rare services these men can continue to offer even after they leave our country's battlefield.

There have been "private" security firms operating out of the gulf of Yemen and off Somalia for years now, but the way I read this, the potential threat by these guys would be a whole new game. I guess no more hoping across to Tunisia or Algeria for cheap duty free fuel anymore.

    Hi,

I wouldn't doubt that this is a marketing pitch for armed security services and other related solutions. ISIL, unless commanded to be so, has no interest in butting heads with yachts; no "innocent" will be hurt in the process, (The targeted kind of mass innocent, so no need to chew me on this), and no higher interest to be preserved or otherwise directed by such actions. Remember, and you can call it my opinion, that those that back such groups are also in the yachting world and might even be part of the flashy bunch. Just sayin! ;)

May all, (Humans and Boats), be safe and live in peace.

    Cheers.

It will take only one yacht to be attacked in the Med. to crater the Mega Yacht business there. I have already heard of one yacht not going over and others worried and talking about it. Should be busy in New England this summer!

Think a seized yacht packed with things that go boom, heads into a fancy megayacht marina to "clear" and they push the button. isil/isis is interested in terror, it doesn't matter what method. Another reason to allow shipping of all shapes and sizes to be armed and defend themselves.

It's the age old problem....very difficult to defend against an aggressor who "wants" to die for a cause and puts no value on human life.

Nothing ISIS would love more than to behead or immolate a dozen Western millionaires / billionaires aboard a symbol of luxury and power.

Lars soft-deleted this thread twice because he thought our discussions could give insight to the wrong people. I'm the fool that thought the discussion was relevant, therefore I un-deleted the thread. Aplologies to Mike 448. It's an important subject, but YF has the ability to top a Google search for the keywords we use. Some discussions are best left on the dock.
