I do, however I find the amount of info on this site so informative and when I saw Bayside Bert's post about his 54 Bert I was hoping that I would be able to get some feedback. Glad I did as I was allowing only about 50k a year total with about 13k going towards summer and winter storage in R.I. So hard to get my head around 50k to keep the boat in shape, but there are a lot of big ticket items that can keep that average up there! Any more feedback would be much appreciated! Just getting back on the water after 12 years and even when I was running boats it was on the tax payer dime (Please hold that against me!). Just trying to figure out what to do in this endeavor. I really thought I had it nailed down!

Here are a few of the factors that will greatly impact what you spend on maintenance.

-What kind of condition it is in when you buy it. On top of that how many hours on the engines and generator, how long until it will need major work.
-How well you maintain it. I believe that staying on top of routine maintenance, doing everything the owner's manual say, will ultimately save in terms of major expenses.
-How much you use it and to some extent where you use it. If you rarely use it and it just sits, then many things happen from mold and mildew to engine issues. On the other hand if you put extremely high hours on it, then you'll be quicker to need major work.
-How much of the work you can do yourself.

Have you considered chartering a boat over in Bahamas for a week or two before sinking your life savings into a vessel you/wife may not like in a couple of years?

$50k is the starting point just for maintenance. Add insurance; summer storage in a hurricane hole; fuel (here it's cheap - over there $$$);
I replace all the electronics on every vessel purchased - fake radar domes and radios are common.
