    hello
wondering if anyone has any experience with the 2004/05 roamer 40 -- am considering a new purchase , but dont have any background info except what the dealers say (and of course, they all say it's a great boat:) , have read some articles online, but nothing from a Real Owner, haha.

    thanks!

Wish we had more GRP Roamer owners on board to help answer your questions Dean. They are selling well, but apparently not to the most internet-saavy or convivial group of owners.
Have personally looked over a 40 Roamer and have to say that the quality looked good and I liked the amount of effort put into all of the design features.
Itz a toss-up on residual values, but at least it not another Sea Ray.:p
    Cheers!

I too have been on the new Roamer. What a boat! It's perhaps the nicest example of 40 ft. on the water. Furhter, I watched them build one, very interesting to say the least! I've never been on one under power though...sorry.

    Buy it!

Never been on one, but there is a dealer dangerously close and I have salivated over the 40 on their website. I like the dark hull color that is available. The 40 seem true to the roots. If you are here, you are different, and this is the boat for you! No other brand offers the history and the mystique of a Roamer. I hope you buy it and keep in touch with us...we'd love to see some pics of the interior!!! Take some when you go see it and please post?

GRP 41 Roamer or was it a 43?

    Eric,
I can't remember the gent who had one of the first "New Roamers" but he used to post fairly freq. in the old format. Any way of resurrecting the name?

    Eric,

Have not checked the forum lately and I guess I had a reason to check today.

We're into year 5 with our Roamer 40 and still love everything about it. Our interior work is not nearly as nice as the 2006 model but the aft stateroom is better designed on this original. Price is interesting for these new boats. Had a call from our neighbor who was on the Roamer 40 at the NY Boat Show this past week. The Roamer on display was full powered and really teaked out at a price of $650K. The current hull remains as Hunt Naval Architects designed it and is very stable in rough seas (Yes, we get five and six footers here on Lake Champlain with a good South wind). Where they've worked is on WOT and fuel efficiency. Ours is the only Roamer built with gas (8.2L Crusader) power and I think all the production Roamers have been delivered with diesels. Ours tops out at 32MPH and the newer Roamers achieve in excess of 40MPH. Fuel efficiency is also at least 50% better and at a much higher optimal cruise speed. When they designed the Roamer, they also designed oversized cleats and other hardware which they have not compromised on in production.

Eric, we were at the Boston Boat Show this past fall and ran into Peter Van Lancker, who designed and built the first Roamer (Our hull) for Chris Craft when it was still under OMC. He said that while they may have cast two hulls, only one Roamer was ever constructed and Chris Craft totally gutted and rebuilt this boat thus the appearance of photos of what appeared to be two different boats. Peter is now the President of Hunt Yachts.

A new toy we bought this past summer to use with our Roamer's Raymarine autopilot was the wireless remote control. Best buy we've made. I preplot our route and then set in the sit pit on the bow or at the blender and pilot the boat for hours(off plane of course for safety sake). I recommend it to anybody who has a Raymarine autopilot on their boat.

Every year we debate selling the Roamer because of the limited boating season here in the far North. We'll go through that debate again this spring. We'll stay in touch.
