    The boat was custom built not retro fitted. While there is access to areas to get to plumbing electrical etc. it isn't meant to be changed back on a whim. Come and see the boat for yourself! After all we are talking about a fabulous Viking not some lesser quality cookie cutter boat.

    There are flights into Grand Rapids, MI. (GRR) and Muskegon, Mi. (MKG) every day. most under $500. I promise the boat is worth the trip!

    Priorities.

    Is the purchase for a place to keep your stuff;

    or, to flip in three years or less?

    Similar to Forest Gump, watched the movie;

    but it's not quite the same as being there.

    Well said. The boat is spectacular! Definitely a must see. Nearly all of her life has been spent in fresh Water as well...

    tony,

    Your last 3 posts read like a salesman with a commission at stake. Delving further into the details, I find you're a broker with the same firm that holds the listing, therefore the link to your brokerage company has been removed along with your membership. Your presence on YF was self-serving and opportunistic; the only nice words I can muster for your otherwise clandestine conduct.

    I thought he was a Captain for an airline being able to quote prices for the flights up there. Lol.

    It was a good video, pity about the music, looks a good boat.

    $100k sounds very high to put a 4th stateroom back in. I've had friends add crew staterooms in sterns of boats that came with or without them, had to run wiring, plumbing, etc. install an a/c system, and that spend between $30-50k at the very most.

    They probably didn't have it done at the Viking facility in Riviera Beach! LOL

    Is this Admin speak for the use of a Mk 1 Eyeball and reading Post No 19? He seemed fairly open about his links to the brokerage in that one.

    I guess this is partially my fault...I should have seen tony for what he was...he was a tad over exuberant for being just a "Captain". I really posted this just to get some feedback on the 3 vs. 4 stateroom, and resale value. Even if it was the only 74 on the market, to bring the boat down, and then to the Viking facility, then over to TX. The fuel alone would probably pay a big chunk of the upgrades I have planned.

    Where's your head?

    Viking is in New Jersey.

    You desire the boat to be in Texas.

    Roger knows the short route - canals.

    Fuel should never be the issue (deal breaker).

    Here's an odd thought:

    The boat you desire is in the same general location as Capt123's ride.

    Spend next summer touring the Great Lakes. o_O

    After all, there are sturgeon there.

    Maybe you'll catch an albino.

    The eggs should cover the fuel. :D

    It's the eyeball of a very tired admin, just back from the NBAA, processing hundreds of images taken by Tom while while trying to keep a server from sinking, all the while questioning my career path! (insert emoticon with toothpics holding up eyelids here)

    Hi OP, LOL...your suggestion is quite valid, assuming I lead the life of Riley. Unfortunately, I have a new Company to run...and we're running short handed as it is. I've mentioned many times that Murphy was a distant cousin of mine...and there is no way I would bring a boat down the Mississippi! Much braver souls do it all the time...but not this guy. I'm better off buying one in South Florida doing the mods, and bring her over to TX.

    I generally remain an observer of most threads because time doesn't permit being drawn into a debate, but I find the above quote rather amusing. Honestly, I find the whole Viking cult-thing parallels some sexy brands with a dash of herd mentality.

    I've seatrialed two Viking convertibles; the 55' and the 42'. Both boats ran so bow-high that handrails were an absolute requirement for passengers. I also noticed a surprising level of noise caused by cavitation and water passing under the hull and transmitted through the superstructure. Frankly, I don't know what all the fuss is about.

    Viking builds a good looking boat. IMO, the nicest lines of any sportfish, but I'd bet my bank account that if you rode in a Hatteras GT, you'd never gaze upon a Viking with same infatuation again. I seatrialed the Hatteras 54Gt and the 63GT, back-to-back and walked away truly impressed. Both hulls ran flat and level with an exceptionally quiet ride. The hull of the 63' was designed by Donald Blount & Assoc. It was as fast as the 54' with the same exact engines and horsepower. That's good naval engineering!

    I admit, the teardrop windows on the Hatts make my eyes water, but when it comes to running offshore, I'll take my new boat delivery in New Bern.

    I get a VIP invitation every year from Viking at their Riviera Beach facility, and the last time I attended, they had a 74 which I drove for about 30 minutes. I stood at helm, and being vertically challenged (I'm 5'9") could see very well over the bow, and putting just a little tab in could see 15 feet in front of the bow. The boat carved a 360 degree turn in what I could only guesstimate in a boat and a half length at WOT. IMO Viking uses interior space extremely well. They seem to have more space or feel more open than others. The reason for the 74, is that it's a lot of bang for the buck, compared to new models. And being claustrophobic, the bigger the better. I'm not sure I could live aboard the GT 63....but then again I'm not in the market for a new boat. Having said that I take your word about running angle and quieter ride. I do wish I was going to be able to hit the show this year, for the first time in many years, there's a lot of boats I'd like to walk aboard. One of them would be the Hatt 77. It's been two years since moving from the Keys, and haven't wet a line since then...I feel like a fish out of water not being able to fish whenever I want to.

    You can bring the boat down the Tenn-tomm and end up in Mobile. I've done it and it's relatively easy, except for finding stops. I'd also run the Mississippi and would like to do that trip one day. Going downstream is a much less problem than upstream and if you ran hull speed you'd most likely be doing 15 knots over ground. I would run it that way and cruise for limited sections. It also depends on the time of year you run the Mississippi. If it's the end of the summer, there is much much less debris (and current.) The Mississippi would be a heck of a lot faster as there is only a lock or two at the end.

    Tell you what J, assuming I buy something up in that part of the world...you do the driving! Rivers shift too much for my tastes.

    If you're seriously in the market for a boat that age and size you owe it to yourself to look at a boat that's been kept in fresh water vs. a south Florida boat that's been out in the weather it's entire life. Running down the Mississippi river isn't that big of a deal.
