Carver 440 Aft Cabin Refrigerator Removal

    Hello All,

    My standard home refrigerator in my galley has finally died and I'm trying to remove it. There must be some trick to doing this because no matter how I tilt, twist and pull on it it won't come out.

    I'd assume Carver has some type of restraint system to keep it from moving in big seas. I've had 3 guys take a look to see how to do it but none have worked it out.

    Does anyone here have any experience doing this with this particular boat?

    Sorry I can't help with an answer, but heading to the boat right now to tackle the same problem. I have an 86 4207. If I find a solution will let you know. Please do the same.

    Refrigerator removal

    Was just able to free my refrigerator on a 1986 4207. Galley sole has an access panel for a/c water pump. From that panel I was able to get to 2 9/16 bolts that screwed into the front feet of the refrigerator. Removed bolts and that did the trick. Now I just need to figure out how to get it out the door. Will remove refrig doors and hopefully it will fit thru opening without having to remove the boat door.

    Roy, I have an '86 4207 as well. Were you able to get the frig thru the door. I will soon need to replace mine and I thought it would have to go thru the port salon window. If you were successful, I'd be curious as to how you did it.

    Was able to remove the original refrig by removing the entry doors, it was a tight fit but got it out. The problem I am having is finding a replacement that fits like I want, or should I say like the original. I would like the new one to not stick out and fit flush like the old one so the best I can find is a 12cf which is good except for a 2" gap on either side. If anyone has replaced the original and found a really good fit please post the make and model of what you found. I have a 4207 without the dinette on the Port side, don't know if that makes a difference or not.

    I replaced my home fridge a year or so ago. The space it was in was a fairly snug fit. What I found is that the newer models have changed their dimensions. I had to lose about a cu. ft. and it sticks out a couple on inches further. Thought I'd need to replace my Jenn-Aire cooktop. That was going to requie a fairly complete redesign of my the island. Gotta love kitchen designers who make it so that, when you replace anything, you nearly have to replace everything.

    Looking to buy a 42 Carver 1988/89 or 90 for the Great loop.
    I have a question . When at anchor in a wind , will the boat point into the wind or will it swing from side to side ?
