427 ford barr marine exhaust retro fit.

    I have a 1960 chris craft 40 foot constellation express. It was retro fitted with 427 fords in 1968. My risers rusted out and I replaced them with BARR marine. I had to replace the exhaust manifolds with BARR as well to match up with the riser. Has any body done this and or have any pictures or advice. Im sure I can figure it out but it would be faster and easier if I've seen it done or talked to someone who has done it. thanks for helping.

    Get 2 long studs a touch longer than the normal mounting bolts and put them in the head on the outsides. Get the manifolds on the studs and just hand tighten nuts on them, put the manifold and gasket on, now you don't have to support the heavy manifold while you get all of the other bolts snug. Now take out the studs and put the other 2 bolts in. I haven't done manifolds on 427's but manifolds and risers are a pretty straight foward procedure.

    Sir, thank you for taking time to reply. I should've been more specific. The plumbing from the stock exhaust manifold is different. How the water enter and returns out of the exhaust manifold specifically. The whole sizes are different locations it enters and exits the manifold are different. How did you overcome these challenges?

    I don't think Barr makes an exhaust manifold for these engines. Chris Craft did their own special components. If you need good/less rotted originals contact Earl @ Marine Sales in Harrison Township, Michigan

    Barr, Osco and others make universal components that fit most applications. It will take some figuring out, plugs, straight and 90 hose barbs. FWC, Raw WC and how the riser is flushed can be confusing and done wrong, may ruin your engine.
    If you're confused, contact the supplier or a reputable mechanic.

    If you're unsure on how to change them, I would highly recommend paying a mechanic that is knowledgable to change them. Not to mention changing exhaust manifolds on a big block is NOTHING I would want to get into myself just for the sheer weight of the components and muscling them into place.
