First of all I would like to say Hi to everyone. I have had 3 Bayliner Yachts over the past 30 yrs and my wife and I are looking for a 46 Carver Voyager. The wife wants a 3 bedroom boat. Does anyone have any advice good or bad about the Voyager and what problems to look. At this time I am very interested in a 2004 priced at 339,000. Is this a reasonable price with a boat with 560 hrs with twin 480 cummins. Thank you in advance for your input Guy
I have a 450. Best boat I have ever owned. Can't say anything bad about it. We'll build and designed. You will love it. 339000 sounds a little high unless it is perfect. Don't buy it unless it has a thruster. Easy to maneuver with one. Difficult without.
Yes it has front and stern thrusters. Boat is in good shape. Will probably buy next season since I have to sell mine. Will put it on the market this spring Guy
I surprise you are going with a carver. I know some one who had a 39 bayliner was looking for a bigger one. He like the 4788 Bayliner when he made the move he sold his 39 in one day. He bought a 4788 Bayliner I am a carver man but I must tell you the 4788 Bayliner is nice. 2001 Bayliner 4788 Pilot House Power Boat For Sale - www.**************
Hi Sam: Thanks for the info on the 47 Bayliner. I love the boat, guest bedroom is hard to make and the speed is slow. Took a ride on the last year that they made it. Great ride but not enough speed. 23 mph was tops for it. Seventeen to eighteen cruise. I also read the article on carvers from the marine surveyor saying that Carvers and Sea Rays were built like a empty milk jug. If this was true Carvers would be folding up in rough seas. I've not heard of any of them doing this. Yes in a hurricane being tossed up on shore, I can see a lot of damage on them. Wife saw a 56 Voyager at Put-In-Bay this weekend and now she wants a 56. Problem is finding a dock to put it in. We have a 50 ft dock now so the 46 would fit just right. Guy
My Carver 33 later called a 355 was totalled by pilings lifting in hurricane Ike. Ended up on levee. Pounded for hours from the waves and ground with a 46' sailboat mast destroying the top. Platform broke off, etc. Bulkheads had dislodged , but most important, put it in the water and backed into what was left of dock. It did not sink! My 430 is twice as solid! Look inside for the engine beams and supporting stronger system, and compare. It is a solid hull. I spent 6 hours in a gale in Mobile Bay and Mississippi Sound, not a shake or rattle. 22 years in Carvers, they are well made.
