Derecktor has been sitting on an unfinished very large sailing yacht for years. It seems the owner who commissioned it ran into some major financial issues and ended up behind bars (so I'm told).
After Derecktor's Bridgeport yard closed down after "Cakewalk", the sailing yacht was finally launched & moved down to the Mamaroneck, NY yard where she has been stuck out on a mooring.
I know someone in the service dept. who said she is probably going to be scrapped as they can't find a new owner to complete the construction. He said it's worth about $60k in scrap.
Funny, I asked why someone wouldn't jump on it if it's only worth $60k? All they need is a couple of million to finish it up, right? He said that just the mast/boom set up will cost close to three million:eek: Wow!

Very unfortunate as this is only one of two builds that the former de frocked chairman of Tyco Int'l left the yard holding the bag on. Besides $6,000 shower curtains and $15,000 antique "Poodle umbrella stands" maybe the designer had enough of attempting to incorporate D.K's esoteric most wanted list in the build. He sold the J class "Endeavor" for 17 + Mil but didn't have enough time left at the greedy corporate "CEO Piggy at the slop bucket" before the Feds caught up to him. Still, its a darn shame that no yachtsman has shown any interest in what would have been a great pedigreed vessel.
The late Robert Derecktor and his two sons have a great reputation for building high quality sailing vessels.

Looks like a very traditional design with long overhangs and pinched ends. If it were a more modern design it would be easier to find a new dreamer.
