I have read in many places, (including an interview with Wayne Huizenga, new owner of Floridian) that Austal has shut down Oceanfast. But I saw in the new Order Book several Oceanfast builds. Enlightenment would be appreciated.

The Oceanfast website is open but has stalled since a couple of years. Austal have no more links to Oceanfast on their website, so it seems that nothing is going on any longer.

It is sad to see and I wish your information is revealing something?

In a few hours we may hear from someone in Australia what´s up downunder...

    Hello from sunny Western Australia!
To answer your question - Oceanfast are not in business, Image Marine has taken over the yard. Although there is an old Oceanfast hull being finished at the moment.

Thanks for this information. Do you know if they are going to build superyachts and if Phil Curran is involved as a naval architect?

Inside info from an ex - Oceanfast designer is that Phil Curran is semi retired I think. But he didn't work for Oceanfast.
He had his own company that contracted to the old Oceanfast (pre Austal)
Once Austal took over he had nothing to do with Oceanfast.
Not sure if there are anymore luxury yachts being produced from this area???

In 2006 Genova Boat Show guide yacht Salacia Evolution is presented and the tekst starts (quote): "Built by Evolution Yachts, the new yard to emerge from the ashes of Ocean Fast...".

Thanks, this is probably where the workforce headed eventhough Evolution has built new premises. Their first yacht, Salacia, designed by Sam Sorgiovanni is for sale at 9 million Euro. A 50 m steel hulled yacht by JQB design is among the new projects. www.evolutionmotoryachts.com/
