Purchased a 4207 with twin Cat diesels, 1986 year model, which sits with the aft low in the water, not level. Does the 4207 w/diesels tend to sit this way? I have full fuel but low on potable water (tank under aft berth), so once I fill the fresh water tank it will sit even lower aft end. I have looked on Yachtworld for other 4207 for sale and see a couple that appear to squat aft end, but others seem level. Looked only at other diesel engine boats.

If this is normal what ballast has been added to others?

    Thank you in advance
    Roy

They do tend to squat. Consider moving the water tank forward.

I am thinking of adding a lot more chain to my anchor rode and less rope which should help some. I have looked at moving the water tank forward but cannot find a good place for it and still retain the same amount of water. Any suggestions?

    Thanks

Do you have an aft fuel tank? If so, consider running with that empty, and just use your port and starboard fuel tanks. Moving tanks sounds like a good idea, but usually is not practical. Also I have heard that the Cat diesels are heavy beasts, but they should be more amid ships.

Before you purchase the chain check with your windless maker to make sure the links you choose are compatible. I was thinking about adding another anchor to Valhalla, and got pretty confused with the choices having never bought chain for a boat before.

Check Boats & Harbors. There's ads for water tank makers. You can get them in almost any shape or size. Under the master berth gives a lot of space on the center line, but a little imagination should be able to find a place further forward.

Fuel tanks are located Port and Stbd, but water tank is aft. Once I fill that tank it will really sit low aft. I will add some chain in the rode locker just as ballast. Hope to move some weight forward.

i have gassers and my swim platform sits about 8 inches above the water.. if this helps.. and this is with everything full... my 170 gal water tank is in the aft as well...i know the deseils are heavier.... there are three holes about 3 inches in the aft on starboard and port aft sides... mine doesnt have them but the boat sits just above the water so the ac water can drain...

170 gals x 8.3 lbs. per = 1,411 lbs. Adding that much weight forward will just push the whole boat deeper, and also make getting on plane harder. I'd move the tank.
