Just purchased a 1986 Carver 4207 with twin Cat 3116's. Would anyone have real world fuel flow data for this set up? Any other info on the boat such as areas to look out for, tips, tricks etc much appreciated. Current set up has the raw water intake for the engines mounted in front of each engine, which blocks access to the outside of each engine. Has anyone had this set up then moved the strainers to a better location? Pictures? The current strainers are very large, would like to move to a smaller size and relocate. Boat is currently in Tampa but will start the trip to Louisiana next week sometimes. 3 boat in this size range, but 1st Carver. Had a Californian then a Gulfstar. thank you in advance Roy "Knot at Work" New Iberia, LA
cant answer your questions mine has gassers.. but the rest is similiar.. congrates on the buy... i really love my boat...
Look up ANY fuel flow chart for your HP of 3116's. As long as yours achieve rated speed at WOT, the boat should burn almost the same as the chart at each RPM point. Then just compared that with your speed and make your own chart.......you will be within 5%, probably even closer
Both are links to fuel consumption at various RPM's...... you probably want the second link. The first link is up to 205hp. The second link is up to 350hp or whatever. http://goldcoastpower.com/brochures/CAT 3114 brochure 1.jpg http://goldcoastpower.com/brochures/CAT 3116 Brochure1.jpg
