While Inbound this evening at 1745 local time the 7 buoy was east or offshore of the 5. Obviously not right. I did report it to USCG Jacksonville who an hour previously reported in 3 separate broadcast Notice to Mariners, that the 2, 4 and Temp 6 were off station. I can not speak to the exact location of the 2,4, and 6 but they looked ok to me based on previous tracks on my lap top. Transit this inlet with caution.

is it still relatively easy to read the "road" in daylight?

I wouldn't attempt St. Augustine inlet personally. St. Johns river inlet/entrance is always deep and always easy to get in and out of and not far North of St. Augustine. There's a marina there (with a high and dry boat storage) on the North side that has fuel/dockage and a good restaurant within walking distance.

what's the name? Two people from a marina came down to Sailfish to make contacts and solicit business and they seemed like nice folks.

MorningStar has high & dry storage on both banks of the St Johns @ Mayport now. The south (east) location still has some docks for transients but it's a heck of a current in there. Sand Dollar restaurant on the North (west bank) just past these spots.

    Hope this answers your question.

That's the place. The dockmaster and people there were really nice. I stayed on the T dock, current is a little strong but was no problem bow into it. They had fuel and the restaurant (Sand Dollar) is pretty good. It's a REALLY easy in and out stop.....inlet is deep water, well marked, doesn't shoal.....We stayed at the North Marina.....
