I am looking at a 1998 65 ft Hatteras convertible with Cat 3412's that have approx. 625 hrs total since new. Have not had the boat or engines surveyed yet but the boat is immaculate . Any thoughts positive or negative at this early stage?

No. The 65' Hatteras is a proven boat and 3412's would be your best engine choice in that time frame. They're great engines and should go a minimum of 6,000hrs

Thanks for the feedback Capt. I am also looking at a 1997 50 ft Hatteras convertible with Cat 3408 with approx 850 hrs if I can't come to terms with the larger boat owner. Any thoughts on that boat?

The 50's pound when they're heavy on fuel and a little wet......once you burn off a half tank they ride pretty decent.....You're best bet is a early to mid 2000's 54' with C30's or 3412s. The ride exceptional and are good boats......
