Many of us are aptly familiar with the 37.5M long s/y Nazenin IV sailing Ketch rigged yacht. She is about to have a successor, the 52M long Nazenin V. The smaller Nazenin has an interior done by John Munford and Naval Architecture by Sparkman and Stephens. The successor, is to have her interior done by Redman Whitely Dixon and Naval Architecture by the said Sparkman and Stephens.

While the present Nazenin IV was built back in the very early 90's by Palmer Johnson, the successor is to be and currently being built by RMK Marine. At 52M or 171.6 feet she is significantly larger. This means that there will be more space aboard for imaginative arrangements.

The Nazenin V will take on the persona -so to speak- of her smaller sister. The genes were definitely not left out in this Sparkman and Stephens design (S&S). She is to feature a similar dark and rich blue hull and white superstructure as well as white main and mizzen masts and booms.

This 'raised pilothouse' is design number 2725 for the S&S team. She features a classic/contempory design that uses the traditional reverse stern and graceful lines.

Her interior is done by Redman Whitely Dixon (RWD) and features teak panelled interior along with sycamore inlays and brass accessories. A subtle nautical palette of colours are used for the fabrics.

The Nazenin V will feature aluminum construction- that being the hull and superstructure are built from this material-. The booms and spars on the mast are made of carbon fiber. The mast sails(sheets) will be operated via the in-boom furlers. Two automatic roller furlers will be operated at the push of buttons to the captain's desire.

Here are some technical data for the Nazenin V:

    Length Overall 170’- 7” 52.00 m
    Length at Design Waterline 134’- 6” 41.00 m
    Maximum Beam 33’-10” 10.30 m
    Draft 14’- 9” 4.50 m
    Displacement 399 Ltons 405 tonnes
    Sail Area 10,754 ft2 999.1 m2
    Construction Aluminum hull and superstructure
Classification ABS + A1 Yachting Service
    AMS,MCA Large Commercial Yacht Code
Spars Carbon fiber spars and booms
    with in-boom furling.

The s/y Nazenin V is to be launched in April of 2008 with delievery shortly after seatrials and so forth. For more on Nazenin V visit:

As rumored before, Nazenin V will not be owned by Mr.Koc, the yacht is for sale, and S&S took a full page ad in a high end yacht magazine announcing it. This surprises me since Mr.Koc has sold Nazenin IV and I can't imagine this sailing enthusiast with out a yacht, so anyone will care to guess what his new build is?

    Hi,
It sure looks that way given that she has a temp looking one for the Nav Lights and a stub for a Radar.

Why do we think her rig was taken out? I haven't heard of anything saying her rig was damaged. Maybe too expensive for the owner to keep up with maintainence? Lost passion for 'sailing'?
