    Hello all

Does anyone have anything positive or negative to say about Interworld Electronics Marine Displays all i know is they are made in Taiwan.

Its for my BlackWatch 36 on flybridge which is relatively dry , I need 3 of them. The Furuno equivalent comes in at about 6k ea these are about 3k ea the difference in price is too much not to at least look around.

    Regards Bas

    industrial alternative

We used an industrial display for our cockpit monitor. Look for those used in ATM applications outside the banks: they are built to work in bright sunlight, driving rain and snow and can take a lot of abuse from angry customers. Worked perfectly for us, even in the tropics.

Inside the pilothouse, we used top end monitors for TV and film studio applications, with similar success.

Both alternatives are cheap, compared to dedicated marine units!

Talk to the people at Comark. They cater to the commercial and government trade, quality is high and prices very competitive. Marine Monitors | Rugged Marine Displays

I have been researching monitors for a few months and still have my head swirling. Just can't justify that $5,000 ++ price tag for monitors. Did find that most the panels are made in Taiwan but am unsure about them all. A couple companies caught my eye. First was Stealth (stealth.com) and GreenMarine (greenmarine.com). Founder of GreenMarine has an interesting post on Panbo.com and you can search for his monitor by name to find the article. Seems that when you start comparing monitors they can seem very much the same. Lots of companies buy the panels and distribute the same thing under different names. Today I am contacting Stealth to ask more pointed questions about what I learned at Panbo.

I am interested in anyone with experience in GreenMarine or Argonaut. These seem to have better pricing than other high end monitors.

At the Ft. Lauderdale boat show I noticed a Fleming 55 had two NEC MultiSync LCD2090UXi monitors on their helm. I researched and found they are high end graphics monitors and bought two ($800.00 each) to see how they may work on my new helm design. I am using them now as I type this and can say they are the most impressive PC monitor I have ever used. However, they are too large for my new helm design so I will put them in my office so no waste... You can darn near lay these monitors flat and they are about as readable as when facing you. You can also get a 120-12V converter 3rd party so they don't have to live on the inverter.

Have you tried the NEC Multisyncs dimmed down in low light conditions? Monitors ruining my night vision is my biggest complaint with them.

Hey, thought I had posted a reply to your question. Yes, I took over the admirals dining room and set up these monitors. I can dim these easily using toggles located on the bottom right corner of each monitor. Lots of flexibility and quick. These toggles can hardly be seen in the NEC web photos. These also have auto sensing brightness that I have not really given a workout. You can also change the power on light from a very bright blue, to a more pleasing green to no light at all.

I have run an argonaut for 1 season and it works great, it is under a hardtop so direct sunlight really isn;t an issue
no problems thus far and i am planning on adding another one this year

    Dimming NEC Monitors

I found that I can dim them to what NEC scales at 14%. Pretty dim. What I found with the Nobeltec is that when you have the monitors set to 100% brightness the Dusk and Night modes overtake the settings and dim accordingly. Also, pushing the buttons on the front of these monitors is easy, but I would still prefer a dimming knob in all cases.

    Interworld monitors

Interworld does not list their prices so it's hard to tell, but check out Stealth monitors. Stealth.com, on the left menu see LCD monitors, then to Marine LCD's. Seems Interworld, Stealth, KEP (Low Cost Displays) and Green Marine all have the same button layout on the front and connections on back are the same except Green Marine does not have touch (so no USB). Stealth has 1-year warranty while KEP I think has 2 year. So far in my research Stealth seems to have a good price for the product. I agree about the price issue, I am installing four (pilot and bridge) and paying 6k each is just way too much...

Checked the Comark and they require 100 - 240 v. Did you have to contact Comark for prices? I have had 110 monitors that plugged into a battery backup that was plugged into inverter plug. For my likes 12 volt is preferred.
