    Do I need to worry about a “EMS SUPPLY SIGNAL LOST PORT PM” error message on my port engine?

    Context: I have a 2006 carver with twin D-12 675 Volvos and three helm stations (pilot house- upper helm and cockpit). Everything seems to work ok but I do not like having an alarm that will not clear. Talked with a local Volvo mechanic and he said it may be a trial and error activity as we change out EVC units one at a time; I really do not favor this approach.

    Any suggestions on trouble shooting this and or solutions would be appreciated.

    As always thanks for your feedback in advance.

    Some thoughts;
    I'm sure there is a reason you just can not un-plug one at a time. Maybe internal programing setup for 3 stations.
    It could take way less billable time to rotate out the ECM's than lead-by-lead trouble shooting. If the Volvo tech does it and can not fix the problem, I would think he would not charge you for the ECM.
    Usually if you purchased the ECM yourself, there is no refunds on electronic parts if you can not fix it your self.

    It sounds like a loose, lost connection to, or a bad sensor. I had an 05 with same engines. Shortly after departing PBFL enroute to NJ, One of them would de-rate due to low cooling water pressure which turned out out be a faulty sensor. To prove my suspicion I swapped the sensor and the issue moved to the other engine. Of course that sensor wasn't immediately available so I had it drop shipped a few days ahead on my route / delivery. To prevent the engine from de-rating I disconnected the faulty sensor which produced a Lost Communication to the Sensor Alarm but did not de-rate the engine power. Good luck. It is frustrating.

    There ya go. Sounds near like MAN sensor issues. I supose it could be a sensor error/issue. The error codes usally point to or state sensor error and can be cleared.

    Thanks for all the good ideas. I'll check all the plugs on the port engine and let you know.
