Yeah, watching the show take place from my angle as well:
Renting out furnished apartments to Yacht Crews year around but right now to Deck Hands expecting to help with boats and docks getting ready for the show: These guys does not have a TWIC card and can not get a Security Clearance because of the Government shutdown.
I bought them beer and dinner as well as a free week in the apartments, but not looking good: The FLIBS management can't do much and my tenants are starving.

Any Yacht Forums arrangement at the show? A meeting place inside or outside the fence?

I should be off from my day job during the show and would like to meet some of you guys. (But not everybody :D)

I'm there Thursday & Friday, working from opening to sunset, and then some. Taking off Saturday to compete in a helicopter competition, then returning Monday to focus on review details prior to sea-trials.

Tom is staying at Bahia Mar for all five days, actually six. He's taking pics for YF and the Triton. This show will be a real challenge for him. Four weeks ago, he broke his hip when he slipped on ice. He'll be on crutches so I'll be his camera caddy for part of the show.

We have several new reviews in the works; probably more following the show, but publishing reviews has taken a backseat to some digital challenges over the past few months. I'm looking forward to a break; walking the docks and connecting with the real world. It's been awhile since I've come up for air. Is Obama still president?

Sadly I will not be able to attend this years show. But it truly would be fun next year to do a dinner or cocktail hour for all YF members who can make it to the show. Depending on the size, I would be happy to host.

    Cheers,

    Keith

I like KKreicker's idea, and I will be down Friday morning until Sunday, and will post pics when I return. From what I hear, it should be a good turnout, and I'm excited to see the finished 120' Trinity "Finish Line". I saw her at Trinity New Orleans in the spring when she was being finished, and also really excited to see the 100' Hatteras debut, and have an appt. scheduled to take a tour of her with a broker.

Would love to meet other YF members as well.

Tom, rent a power chair! Or borrow one of mine! So much easier getting around! PM me and I can deliver it where ever you are and give you a lesson!

I plan to be taking pics from across the ICW from Bahia Mar while the boats are being loaded into their slots which starts today and goes on through the weekend. I will be there Saturday and Sunday when most of the larger yachts are the last to be loaded snapping away.

And then I will be at the show as many days as possible weather permitting sporting my YF tee!!

So if you see a guy with grey hair, probably wearing a white sun hat, in a red or blue power chair tap me on the shoulder and say hello!!

Fortunately right now the forecast looks pretty good!

If you are attending the show by car try to avoid the Las Olas Blvd Bridge over the Intracoastal as it is under construction and is only one lane only in both directions.

Las Olas Boulevard bridge construction starts April 25 - Sun Sentinel

If you are coming by car I am going to go over the Sunrise Bridge and then go South on A1A to the show.

The other option is the 17th St Causeway Bridge East to the show.

In any case vehicular traffic is going to be more of a nightmare than usual!!

I've found that the easiest is to park at one of the Water Taxi pickup spots west of the Intracoastal and take the water Taxi to the show, or one of the lots on 17 st near the bridge and taking their tram, but this can get way backed up as well.....The Water Taxi is a pretty quick deal if it's Saturday or Sunday, and run efficiently. The Park and Ride's aren't too bad on the weekday's.

I will be on an Elling 49, a 2012 Dutch built fiberglass cruiser, on B dock slip 235, south side of Bahia Mar, close to the street.

Please stop by and introduce yourselves.

Unfortunately I don't think I'll make it this year. Lot$ going on here in Maryland. I'll be sorry to miss seeing "Knit Wits" the very first ever Hatteras that is reported to be displayed at this year's show.

I am missing this one for the first time in a few years due to my daughter's wedding. Since I will not be there you are almost guaranteed good weather.

Hi Norseman, it's great to hear from you. I'll only be in Ft. Lauderdale for the Boat Show then going back to the jungle.
Look forward to seeing you and all from YachtForums as well!
