hi, i was wondering does anyone have any history on the above vessels as they all belonged to my great grandfather William Lawrence Stephenson. info greatly appreciated. :O) Malahne is currently being restored.
Do Google search. It appears that Velsheda was saved J Class Yachts Association :: Yachts :: Velsheda and again http://www.***************.com/yachts/details/328/ at least until 1997
such an amazing boat! my granny has a scale model made from silver metal. i am sure this will go to my uncle or cousin. it is beautiful! nothing like the real thing im sure. never had the pleasure to see her in the flesh! my mother did though. thank you
Malahne - In the early 60's she spent a few years berthed in Monaco. She was then owned by Sam Spiegel of Hollywood film producing fame. Captain Tourtel ran her with Captain Don Christie as his chief officer. She was immaculate at the time and being such a good looking yacht one wonders why anyone would want to redesign her and create a monster. I hope I haven't committed a cardinal sin by naming the owner at the time.
Its all interesting to paint a history of what happened to them, my son is doing his homework project on the boats. its great because he is learning family history too :O)
May be of interest to you. My great grandfather William Randall was captain of the Velsheda in the 1930's.
