    It is simple. I snap the camera to the side of the hardtop. Then you see a live HD video feed on your iPhone/iPad while you are at the helm during docking.

    Position as needed, remove when done. This is a killer app for backing down a slip. Should work wonders in preventing embarrassing moments.

    I am impressed by the camera, was filming in my wooden boat yesterday, but all the software is a nightmare to me. It is shooting video and sequences randomly and I can not even get the remote control to work reliable. To download to the computer takes forever, I have to restart and remove the battery about ten times to get it to work. The iPad app I have never got working at all...

    But eventually, the movies and also stills are very nice... the picture is from the film at 35 knots...

    No wiring. No power supply. Lithium battery.

    The camera is lithium battery powered. No wiring or power supply. You can turn the camera on/off from the app. A fully charged battery will last several weeks/months.

    Does the app require an internet connection, or will it work over a wifi network that's not connected to the net, (but is to the camera and iThing, obviously)?

    So many apps assume a net connection is always available, work fine in your home city/port, but let you down when you actually need them.

    No Internet connection required

    The camera requires NO Internet connection. The camera appears on your iPhone/iPad as a wifi network in Settings. It is called a peer to peer wireless network. Like Bluetooth but stronger.

    AMG - the camera has rechargeable batteries, so no need to run wiring to it.

    Yes, I have one, here attached to the mast of my RIB. But the ****** software does not work so I had no idea it could be turned on and off from the iPad...

    Ingesting... I m trying to replaced some old wired cams (transom, aft deck, bow and ER) and I m not happy with IP cams I tried. I may try one of these, it s very hard to find wide angle cams for the stern when backing in, the go pro definitely looks like it h a wide lens

    What I wonder though is resistance to UV, probably better off removed between use or placed in a sheltered spot, out of the sun.

    I'm hearing from people who have tried it that there is to much lag in the video to use it as a real time back up cam. That and the fact that the battery life is short as well.

    I just bought the gopro hero 3 black.. comes with some nice features and remote device.. i have found hours of you tube video to watch to educate me on how to operate the many features and editing software that you can have for free... ap is for free as well... can be confusing.. but the vids and photos are really great.. waterproof case to 167 feet.. and so on..

    you have to download a system update to the camera via comp to get the remotes and software to work.. and that in itself is confusing.. must you a class c mem card.. 32 meg works best not the 64... tons of information on you tube... I am having a blast with mine.. and the software for editing is confusing as hell.. windows uses windows movie maker for making short vids for you tube..

    I just bought one yesterday (silver) to use in our upcoming trip to the exumas, I want to get some good underwater footage, as well as general stuff.

    It is a neat little device but I think the interface could have been better. The LCD back back is pretty crude and hard to use, especially the cancel button in the top right corner, very hard to get it to work.

    I haven't tried video at low res yet, but at the default setting the 2" delay make it totally useless as a back up cam. If you want a temporary real time cam, use an iPhone sending the signal to an iPad using the mini webcam app (publisher is prepares)

    Simple, works well and real time. You can also view the iPhone from a we browser on a computer.

    The first step is to update your gopro by going to GoPro Official Website: The World's Most Versatile Camera and follow the easy instructions, until you do that, the iPhone or iPad app will not work. It s an easy process, but you need a computer with Java. Once that s done, the camera and your ios device will link up using the app

    The card needs to a class 10 to work at the highest mode (protune and the fast time lapse) yours seems to be class 1 which should work in all other settings.
