I'm looking for somebody to manage and maintain my Lazzara 68 that is based in Sarasota FL. I live in NH, and my wife and I use the boat about one week of each month. Our goal is to maximize our boating enjoyment while we are on the boat, and minimize the effort to keep things "right" while we are not on the boat.

I'm looking for a hands on person with a wide range of skills. Optimally I'd be able to find somebody that could accomplish all of the following:

    1. Preventive maintenance of all systems on the boat, including such things as fluid changes, filters changes, zinc anode replacement, and cleaning of strainers.

    2. Interior and exterior detailing. I like to keep the boat looking as good as it can look at all times, and that is going to take lots of elbow grease.

    3. Hiring and oversight of contractors that might be required to perform service work and/or repairs.

    4. Provisioning, and housekeeping duties such as making the beds and doing laundry/linens.

I'm not really looking for a captain, per se, as I run the boat myself. That said, if I were to find a licensed captain that could move the boat on occasion, all the better.

I'm amenable to a full time employee, or somebody that wants to work part time. However, I would prefer to find somebody without any other employment/work commitments. Also, the person I hire should be willing and able to travel on occasion, primarily to locations in FL. We may relocate the boat to New England for a couple of months in the summer. If I can find somebody to who is amenable to that sort of travel, that would be great.

I envision that this would be a year round position. When the boat is "in town", I'd expect lots of hours, and lots of work. When we are on a trip, the person I employ could expect a nice vacation. We are not looking for somebody that would expect to travel with us, or who who reside on the boat. No offense, but we like our private time.

I'm looking for somebody with extensive experience, and I'm willing to pay accordingly.

If this is something you might be interested in, please drop me a PM, tell me about yourself, your experience, and give me some idea as to your compensation expectations.

    Thanks.

    Mark

You might consider hiring one of the Brokerage companies that offer these "Yacht Management" services... and they can arrange captain/crew for your moves. You can get pretty much full service, very professional. The nice thing is they are set up for this and give monthly statements... and online as you want... something to think about!
I cannot recommend in your area but any of the reputable firms usually does a very good job at this.

I might note even if you have full time crew and captain... they most usually really aren't up to this and the record keeping... and best to hire one in addition anyway.

Thank you for your input. Right now, I have a part time worker on the boat, and a firm that is managing the boat. They both work hard at it, but the boat just doesn't get the full time care that I would prefer.

Maybe I'm hoping for a person that doesn't exist.

I think you can find what you want in a management company or your Captain. Its just a matter of some effort, time and maybe a little luck. The boat's location should not be a problem. But you being absentee is... .

I would say that there are not many people on the West Coast knowledgable enough to care for a 68' Lazzara and for what you're looking for. That being said, have you considered hiring a full time mate to do what you're looking for? Another thought would be to call Lazzara as they are based close to there and would know someone capable of caring for one of their boats, more than anyone.

Thank you to all who sent me a message/inquiry. I have hired a local captain, who I believe will work out perfectly.

I do exactly what you are asking for right now on a 65 sportfish on the other side of FL. There are people that exist that fit your requirements. I hope you've found that person on your side of the state.
