I went boating today with my little Dutch built and when I arrived at my berth I was surprised to see the 16m feadship Ammerland lying in the berth next to mine.

    She is in great condition.

The boat with the blue hull is my boat it's a Rijnlandvlet 10.50oc.
    Great for the lakes.

Thank you very much for your pictures. However, I was more interested in your boat as it is a real gorgeous boat. My complements on your taste and what you have done with her.

The building/boathouse got my attention as much as the boats. How large is it and how many boats does it hold? Would love to see a photo of it. Just seems to be a very different concept than what we're use to.

Boats also beautiful in the beautiful calm water.

You can look at it as a parking garage.
On both sides are berths that can hold boats up to 20 meters.
The entrance is a garage slidingdoor. It is great!! i can leave the boat open.
The whole garage is sprayed with desinfective spray against bugs and spiders etc.
I walk up to the boat and within 5 minutes I am out on the water.

It's massive and great. I have not seen anything comparable in the US.

    Indoor boat harbour

They are very popular in the Netherland. The boats are very well protected against crimes, sun rays, dirt, underwater growth (due to lack of sunlight) and most of all bird droppings. During winter, the water normally does not freeze and the boat can remain floating.

During the first year of ownership of my 50 ft steel displacement boat, it was kept in one of those hangars in the netherlands, near the builder of the boat. The one year mooring contract was part of final price tag of the boat. It reduced maintenance and cosmetics remarkably. Each mooring position had full electrical power (2 x 240 Volt/50 Hertz 16 Amps) and drinking water supply, sucction hose for black and gray water plus CableTV via outside Sat antenna and phone connector. Maintenance and cleaning service on site and the boat was prepared for cruise on 2 h notice. Best service I have ever seen.

It appears that it's actually built primarily on what was land, dredged and cleaned for the boathouse? So the space is created rather than it protruding into a lake or other body of water?

    Hi Eric

I believe you know, most of your home country is below water level :D. But a beautifull country with very nice people, as long as you do not have to make business with them for living. This does not count for buying private yachts in your country.

"Not every dealer is Dutch but every Dutch is a dealer". Old German saying :p.
