    Love looping vicariously.

Will follow you. Had not read "Sweet Pea" but that's our bedtime reading tonight.

Clockwise just doesn't seem natural to me. lol. Enjoy, be touristy. When we do loop, it will be a long trip to take in as much as possible. The only part that doesn't excite me is the Mississippi section. Also, so many rivers I want to explore too, at some point. We will probably do the coastal part more quickly as by the time we do it, hope to have covered the coastal areas many times already. I just read the experiences of those who have done this and it's just such an experience.

So many trips to dream of. Great Loop. Atlantic crossing. Great U. We've already been compiling a spreadsheet of towns and stops along the loop and things we must see.

    Great U

Alaska to Maine. Basically covering the entire US coast. Can be even extended on the East Coast into Canada. There is a book, Cruising the Big U by Ade and Jo Salzer that got us first interested in this type adventure.

    Hi Ed,

Saw you cruising by Pooles Island.

I'm watching you enter Baltimore Harbor.
To bad you guys could not pick a nicer day to cruise down the bay.

There are lots of great restaurants there.
I can only recommend the you stay away from the crab house next to the Baltimore Marine Center.
So many better places to go.

    Have fun, I am envious.

    Looks like you're at B.M.C.
Canton has some great places and it's only a short walk.

What a great day for cruising. Along the way we passed a square rig "Kalmar Nyckel, quite a ship. Baltimore's Inner Harbor is one of the nicest I've been in. They did it right. We're staying at the BMC Inner Harbor. Very nice marina, but surprisingly only about 1/3 full. I want to thank the good people of Baltimore for the greating. In our honor they're throwing a Keith Urban concert about 100 yards off my starboard bow right now, and tomorrow night they're having a fireworks display. Some say it's really because tomorrow is the Ravens season opener, but I know it's really for us. In fact our dockhands didn't look quite right so the boss asked if they're from the marina. Thankfully he ask that before tipping them. Their answer was "No. We work for the NFL". Boy do we get good service here.:D

Pulling out of Annapolis in a few minutes. Heading for St. Michaels. Looks like another beautiful cruising day.

Close. I was signaling instructions to the owner at the helm. The bird isn't generally one of them (at least with this owner). It tends to shorten employment.:D

Love to follow others virtually. When we do we actually go deep into looking at the attractions in the area and the things we want to be sure to see when we make it there. The Chesapeake is one of those areas we very much look forward to spending considerable time exploring over the years. Annapolis and Baltimore look like great destinations as well as just the entire area. Other than the whole clockwise vs. counter clockwise thing, you're doing the loop the perfect way, leisurely. It doesn't matter how slowly you go you can't see everything you'd like to. That's why people keep doing it over. But to rush through and made a tight schedule makes no sense at all. When we do get around to looping we'll probably go fairly rapidly through areas we have already spent a lot of time but the purpose isn't just to be able to say you made the loop, it's to experience all the different things along the way.

You've got that right. New territory is one of my favorite things. As for the clock-wise thing, we're rethinking that. Doubt we'd make New Orleans by January without pushing, and I've done enough of that (27 N/S transports, never seeing anything more than a couple hundred yards from the marina). So we're thinking of putting in for a couple of months in Beaufort (maybe going further south and then coming back there), having some repairs done and then going back to the counter-clockwise Loop in the Spring. Of course that's today's decision. Everything on this cruise is subject to change at any time. Wonderful way to cruise. Just let circumstances, weather and the feeling of today guide.

Thanks for letting us enjoy your cruise. For all the sea miles under your keel, it's great to hear your enthusiasm and appreciation. Should be an inspiration for the newbies and wannabes.

When do you head to DC? Will you be visiting Capitol Yacht Club?

It could just be addiction (or at times masocism). :D I've had a lifetime on the water and been fortunate enough to earn a living at it now for 25 years. We're becoming a very corporate world. So giving that inspiration is exactly why we have the camera up. Man (and woman) need adventure to really feel alive. At this point in my life you wouldn't want to meet me if I had to sit behind a desk every day. Dangerous.:)

If all goes as planned tomorrow is the Solomon Islands, we'll be entering the Potomac on Tuesday and hitting D.C. on Wednesday. St. Michael's (where we are tonight is new territory for me as will be the Potomac. No feeling quite like seeing a place for the first time.

Not sure about the CYC. I leave the locations to the boss. He gets a thrill planning. I know it was very hard getting a slip there, but I think he managed. Guess you'll have to check back in to see.:)

Well, we just rounded Pt. Lookout and are heading up the Potomac River. New territory for me. We'll be putting in at the St. Mary's Yachting Ctr. in a short while. We had originally planned to go a bit further up today, but a captain up in St. Michaels told me that our choice was a dump with poor security. So we'll see how this place is. Tomorrow: Washington D.C.
