We are celebrating the 50th anniversary of our 63 Roamer Offshore which has been in our family since 1973. The Shamrock has been a great vessel all through the years but sadly the time has come to retire the old girl. I'm posting to get some opinions on my options for a proper retirement. She still is functional, the original Chrylers still run, but as with all steel Roamers we've patched many holes, and the cabin has more than it's fair share of leaks. So far I've considered simply scrapping, putting it on Craigslist , or just giving it to anybody who would take it. Shamrock is located in Fish Creek, Wi. Any thoughts?

38 Offshore Repair Hard to estimate repair cost, I guess it depends how how far you want to go. I did get an opinion from a surveyor last fall and his punch list for passing an insurance survey wasn't too long. A few of his recomendations included, sealing off bulkheads, taking care of some electrical issues, scanning the hull, and repairing navigation lights. Beyond repairs required to pass survey there are a number of things that come to mind. Both engines are running fairly well however the port will need new main bearings soon. We repalced the port timing chain this year and found the shaft to be quite loose. Transmissions and V drives need new seals Rudder shafts need replacing Lots of cabin leaks due to rotten wood
Really a neat and rare model. She's a big heavy thing, but big girls need love too. Sale her or give her away....just don't scrap her, that would a real shame. Please post some additional pictures of her and please post a picture of the helm seat. I have heard they are a real classic design but have never seen one. Good luck!!!!

I see the last post on this thread was a year ago. What did you end up doing with the offshore? We have 1964, 38' Offshore. We are slowly restoring her. Husband has done considerable bottom welding. Whole family has done lots of sanding and painting and wood work.
