    Hi All,

I purchased a 1982 Carver 3607 M/Y two weeks ago. So far it's been a load of fun! Yesterday my salon AC went out and hasn't started back up. Here is what I know

    1) Fan still runs
    2) Water still pumping out of hull in all 3 spots. (forward and aft ACs work)
    3) Compressor starts when turned to 'heat', not when turned to cool.
    4) I can hear the switch going off in the thermostat.
    5) It worked up until yesterday :)
    6) No breakers thrown on the main panel.
    7) I believe it's an original unit
    8) Compressor was loud prior to going out, still is if turned to 'heat'

Does anyone have any experience with this yacht and possibly know these symptoms? I haven't dug out the manual for the unit yet. I looked through the forum posts but didn't see anything that led me to believe I was experiencing the same issue as anyone else.

    Thanks!

I have a 1990 Carver 3607 so they should be about the same except mine does not a a cool or heat switch. It has a thermostat that you rotate to the temp you want, when you rotate it to a lower temp the 4 way valve on the system shifts to cool. I have had work done on mine before but it sounds like you have a compound problem of a compressor or 4 way vale malfunction and a control switch problem. You need an AC guy to check it out and contrary to popular belief, it is still just an AC. Any qualified AC guy can work on it.
