I got a nice little letter from Edward Ennis today. Thought I would share it with anyone interested in a Striker sportfish yacht or doing business with this guy...

I worked with Mr. Thomas de Groot in Holland and that's where the designs come from. One design at a time, basically the same as your main sponsors. Designers don't give away the design unless the buyer buys the rights to a particular design. That's just the way it works.

I don't understand this Ennis guy, this is a forum where lots of folks can give there opinion
on different topics. If he wants to sell boats he could apply for a sponsor on this fine site, if he is welcomed.

As far as his claims on building a better site, where is it, he posted this 7 months ago and without regards to cost. Can anyone please provide the link to his new Forum site he is claiming to build, at least a "under construction" link.

That guy doesn't make much sense. He now has youtube videos (which surprise me they were taken so long ago) of a 70' launch and says the boat can do 40+k with big power. I don't think that boat is capable of doing that in it's current design bottom and beam. Maybe 35. Maybe on the pins.

I can't tell from the videos where they were taken. They are not new videos as they seem to be from a tape video as opposed to digital and the crew working on the boat give me an impression as being from South America. I think some of these things were built there yes? Chile? I suppose it could be Turkey but the video is too old to be recent and nothing was allegedly built there prior so I think that's out.

The guy seems deceptive all around.

I gather that these days it would be cheaper to build a high tech cold mold than use aluminum (had been speaking to Capt Bill) but I do like the "ship" systems and feel on those old things. Felt like you could really lock down the hull and keep it afloat in a bad situation. I wonder how they would compare if each were to hit a semi-submerged container. I see so many things out there. My unofficial top item I see are US Mail bins. The plastic boxes. Strange.

Oh my goodness, I love the threat E-mail. I'm always curious about people who send those sorts of emails. What do they imagine happening? If they thought they could make a huge successful website wouldn't they have done it already? I only know of one successful website set up to make fun of another, rationalwiki, and I doubt seriously that people care that much about the feelings of one angry little yacht manufacturer.

    More threats from this guy

This is a letter I received from the same guy for my youtube clips.

I know without having any education, you will not understand this. It is a little worn because it was the number one article of law that takes precedence (POWER) over all. Agreements as you can see don't apply in corporate law. This single document won the case in the District Court Of Appeals, and the Supreme Court Of Florida. You are under Florida Law, as this is a U.S. Corporation, of which is where you live. The laws you have broken apply here for up to $1,000,000 in fines & up to 20 years in prison. Then we have the civil lawsuit, that is a separate matter decided by the Judge. My Attorney estimates that at a conservative $10,000,000, plus legal fees. Prison is not likely in the Civil case. The Federal Case is a standard amount. I own 100% of the stock in Striker Yachts. How come de Groot owns "0" ? Not to mention his fake letter, if he even has it is as you can read here from the articles of incorporation is worth nothing. He tried that with my Patent Attorney too. You see Jim, all of these old guys are trying to give everybody the shaft, including me. I am the only legitimate owner of Striker. I have further documentation too overwhelm any court in the world. I think Tom is a lot wiser not to waste his final years trying to fight me like Herb did, when I may find his services needed from time to time. I always win in court, and have the resources to accomplish just that!! I have absolutely no need for the likes of people like you! THE END!!!!!!!!!

I think it safe to say, the construction of his letter would be a good representation of how he would build a boat. THE END!!!!!!!!!

If go to their website and youtube account you see a few clips that I made for fun on my computer. It's strange that he's claiming to be in business since 1951 and is using my material. They have so much money according to his threats, you would think they would do it on their own and get it done by a professional. Maybe when they take me to court I could show that to judge. My clips are posted as a hobby and he's using them for profit.

    Edward Ennis comments on youtube

Jim Hall & Tom deGroot are in no way involved with Striker, the original builder since 1951. Jim Hall, a mechanic poses as an unofficial sales rep. for Striker. Tom deGroot did some work for Striker many years ago, but was released. The videos put up by Jim Hall are being reported to the FBI for the second time.

If that is not true go find a lawyer and file defamation of character suit against him.

The pettiness of the internet age has made people forget that we have legal remedies against damaging false information.

    Striker

Yeah, this is not true. He does own the trademark here though uspto, only for a couple of years. Striker Boats International is a small design firm that designed all striker's since the sixties and didn't really need to have the trademark, because it is their design and they are protected by the license/contract to build a Striker from Holland. If you build a boat from their design it clearly states all this.
