I just realized that the 58-meter motor-sailer "Islander" is currently going through conversion into a pure motor yacht. I was not aware of this however, it seems that the conversion is going well. Her masts have been removed. She will be having extensive work being done on her, including entire repaint, sun-deck modification, reballast, electrical and cable work and so on. She is due to take trials in December before coming back out to service. Islander is also on the market for 24.95-Million USD.

Anyone having subsequent pics and information and be sure to keep the rest of the community here up to speed!

    Hi,

    Where is it being done?

Kinda optimistic numbers for an old girl that has been refurbished into something her designers didn't foresee at the start but it is probably easier this way than to make a motor boat into a sail boat.

Not that I am saying that can't be done :D

This old girl is just south of Jacksonville Fl. She is at a place called Reynolds park it is an old military depot that they have turned into storage and work piers. We Recently did some work on one of there GenSets and believe me they have the boat gutted. She is going to need some serious Mods to get her back in the action.

Could be a conversion where every penny invested may double the loss. But we better wait and see...

The now demasted and remodelled "Islander" has been up for sale since her conversion and has now had a significant price reduction in her asking. Previously asking 24.95-Million her current is 19.95-Million USD.

    Motor Yacht Islander Conversion Complete

We recently completed the conversion engineering and naval architecture of the former 192' motorsailing yacht Islander (ex-The Other Woman) into a motor yacht. The conversion is now complete and the yacht is about to sail from Jacksonville, Fl.

Thanks for the photo of the completed yacht Boriskirilloff and welcome to YF.com as well!!! I can't make a fair judgement from that photo alone, I would have to see her from other angles. She sure does look odd without her masts...

Has the Retractable keel been removed as well. And what did they do with the unused space?

I originally found her when I was looking up motor sailors. I was looking for a yacht that was more motor yacht in design with sails added. Living in a cave of a normal sailing yacht is not appealing. I fell in love with her when I saw her. Now she is just another of many motor yachts. The price wanted for her has dropped in half since originally offered after her conversion. Now under $13M. I was interested in her as a motor sailor, I am not interested in her as a motoryacht. I believe the cost of upgrading her sailing systems was prohibitive so the son of the now deceased owner cut corners, and costs to update her for sale.

The heart of a blow boater is bleeding. Please call it a cozy accommodation.

Is it correct, that MitseaAh changes the shape of her hull below waterline,
when changing from sailing mode into planning mode (like Disco Volante:))
