Boat junkies get a higher buzzz

Them be junk junkies. Boat junkies get a higher buzzz.
20 hour numb from ole Detroit's under the sole buzz. Bloodshot eyes watching another beautiful sunrise racing at ya. Box full of fish and the taste of that first beer. Years rebuilding that Just rite hull. Weeks of laying varnish and the evening sun reflecting off the last coat.
Naw, we don't need no stinking junk, we are boaters... The wh%$^&s we are, Were boaters and get high just thinking about enjoying our pride and trades with boats. (lata rum helps also)

Well boys and girls, I made the trip to see her today, and boy was it an awfull ride home relaizing how in the wrong hands how these once elegant boats can go down hill so far. Need advice on how to post pixs here. It asks for URL? The pixs I took our jpeg pictures in a picture folder. Would like to share with you what I saw. As some of you might know, she has not been loved latley, and the last shmoe that had her, decided to redo the decks, removed all plywood to structural frames then roughly fastened plywood, and that was it, no sealer, nothing to close it up, so as you can imagine this boat is and has been open to the elements. Headliners forward under the main "deck" have fallen due to water infiltration. Paint is flaking off hull, I could go on and on. Someone give me some hints on posting pixs, and then we can really discuss this boat. From afar as I walked out to her (she was at end of dock all by herself) She still looks awesome, but as I got closer you could start to see her tears so to speak :(

We may need allot of rum here. Stand by while I get some tissue and another cocktail.

Find a way to get them pictures up. It may not be that bad. If it floats, there is hope..

looking at the plywood that some schmoe decided to screw down, didn't finish job, not sure what happened, but the result is water infiltration into forward area above galley and crew stateroom:confused:

salon area, really just a dumping area for schmoes' plywood decking, and misc junk, headliner falling down here as well, didn't get up onto flybridge but will assume there is quite a bit of snow, and somehow filtrated down? Flybridge is fiberglass yes? Didn't poke around too much with all the clutter.

In forward crew stateroom looking aft through galley, or whats left of it! Headliner came down due to great deck job (schmoe). Flooring looking like some type of laminate ply that was all shot from water.

    Toughie,...

...., but pretty sure they are open to offers.
It does of course represent a monumental task (said Moses) but know that you know that already. The problem really is, iz that she's so darn pretty (pass the jaguar). Do the motors work?
Decks are priority #1 of course: Triage 101: stabilize the patient (5K?).
That said Capt Kirk, you are (or r knot) about to embark on a 5-year mission, ..., "to seek out new life and boldly go where (no fuul) has gone B4, to, ....," which, when done rite mite be worth 250K (after spending 300K) - but then agin, watz doose it mean to "own" a one-and-only Doosie?
    Best wishes.

What did the bilges look like? Does she run? 8v71s?

I have witnessed worse come back to life, including a fire damaged Pacemaker of similar size and vintage.

A smart business man would run like heck and save his relations, marriage and money.

A boat junkie will look at her some more. How close can you get her to your shop? Your wife like big boats (that belch black smoke)? Do you have a manager or right-hand man in mind to hire (full time)?

How far away is she from a lift for an bottom inspection?

what is the condition of the hull, systems, tanks, running gear, generators, and engines?

the decks and interior are in rough shape but not beyond repair.

There is a thread on YF about a boat named Black Pearl (I think).
You should read it and maybe contact the owner.

Nice looking boat (when sitting at the end of the dock)! Looks like a great project and no more involved then the "Lost Pearl".
