I have a 1985 carver 36' hardtop aft cabin cruiser. I want to replace the privacy canvas curtain around the aft deck with fiberglass panels. Also would like to add wing doors replacing the canvas on either side of the aft deck. Has anyone ever done this, or does any one know where i may begin to look for these items, or where i may have them made. I'm from upstate NY. Thanks

We have a 1989 3807 Aft Cabin with lexan panels around the aft deck. They were in place when we purchased the boat, so I don't have any information on who did the installation. But I can describe it and have pics available.
rear windows consist of 3 panels approx 3' by 4' high, with the canvas window still in place above the ladder. Side windows consist of 2 panels 1.5' wide and 4' high. 1/4" thick.
All windows slide open in a channel made of starboard material with the channel routed in the end of the material. All windows slide open or can be removed for cleaning. Lexan material is tinted approx 35%. This cuts down on the heat and light transferred inside.
Doors are 1/2" thick lexan attached with a piano hinge along the outboard railing. Each door is cut down the middle with another piano hinge. This makes it possible for the door to fold accordion style so as not to interfere with the opening of the side windows. All lines aft are handles through the side windows, so having the doors split makes it easier to handle dock lines.
    Lexan materials are readily available.
We have several pics and web page showing pictures of the rear deck.

Or additional pics can be taken and forwarded.

Hi Jim, Thats exactly what i'm trying to do. First i do appreciate your reply, and secondley i would like to see a few detailed photos if you do have any. I did see the one photo of your boat on your web page (which by the way is beautifull) but at a distance its kind of hard to see what details might be necessary for someone i might get to do this work.
Thank you so much for your response.
    Mike

Hey Jim looked at your blog, would you mind sending me the photos also ? Your 3807 is done up real nice on the aft deck. We've been going back a forth for a year on how to redo our 3607.

May I suggest you look into EZ2CYfor your aft deck. We have a1989 3607 with an enclosure that was installed in 1999 and it is still looking brand new. The two sides have 2 panels and the aft has 3 panels all of which slide in either direction. The doors are swing in panels which give you plenty of access to the fore deck. Spoke to a rep at last years boat show in AC and he said that it would be about 10 grand to duplicate today but I think it is worth every penny. Just my 2 cents!

    Hello Sea Ya
Your response to my request was very interesting. Who did your installation in 1999? I need to try and find someone local who may help. The need for pictures or some sort of drawings seem to be the needed start point with the few business's i've contacted. Thank you for your help, any other would be appreciated.

Our aft deck EZ2CY enclosure was already on our boat when we purchased it 4 years ago. There are a few dealers here in NJ and NY. The EZ2CY web site is very informative. I attached a couple of pictures to this posting showing the enclosure as well as a picture of an aft deck ladder which I installed. It is more convenient than the standard ladder and is actually for an above ground pool. Our boat very seldom leaves the dock at the marina, so we find both of these items very convenient. These pics were taken behind our home.

Pictures of our 3807 Carver with plexiglas enclosure on the back. the last picture is of the locking system for the wing doors. The doors are accordion style with a piano hinge down the center. This allows the doors to be folded in half and then locked open. We do this occasionally when cruising and during the hot weather. The side windows slide open and made from 1/8" lexan. With the wing doors open when cruising, the windows flex a little from the incoming wind. They are held in place with latch pins at the top and bottom of each window, this way they stay in place. back windows are large (36" x 40"), they are also held in place with latch pins. When handling lines from the side, we usually take the side windows out. This allows us plenty of elbow room for throwing lines.

If anyone is interested in close up pictures, send me a e-mail address. We are presently cruising, so internet service is sporadic at best. But I will follow up when it is available.

    Hi Jim
A couple pictures from the inside would be great. How everything is secured would help.
    Thanks
