    Don't know how I missed this post! Good link Kevin. Thanks for posting it. I met Alan Szaba, Jr. and his father at the Heli-Internationals (Hebron, OH) in 1999. Alan was about 10 years old at the time. From this same event, I had the honor of being featured on the front cover of a video tape by SKS Productions. They film all of the major r/c jet and helicopter events for the sport. Very popular videos.

    Most of the aerobatics you see Alan doing in this link were originally developed by Curtis Youngblood. Curtis is a multi-time US National and World Champion, and one of the finest people I've known. Here's a link to his site...

    One of my oldest friends is Mike Mas, considered the father of remote control helicopters (along with Dieter Schluter). We flew together for 10 years and chased a few skirts in between. He publishes the leading magazine in the industry and also has a website with a popular forum. Good place to begin learning about r/c heli's. Here's the link...

    Hey everyone, new to the forums, and so far so good! ;) That shot of Evviva is at Feadship HQ? Where is that located at?

    Oh and on the helo topic, im always amazed at how many yachts have a huge railing around there helipad...what a horrible idea!

    Anyways, its a great forum and im glad I found it!

    EDIT: One more quick question, anyone know where to find a good avatar?

    Railings around helipads (on yachts) are typically removable, although their installations are often so clean, they look permanent. You might notice these railing sections are not usually connected, so they can come apart seperately for storage. [/QUOTE]

    That makes sense. I suppose the pilots are extremly good too. I saw a helo land on the back of Triton once, and it was amazing how tight of a space they land them in.

    BTW, I read the avatar topic, good info.

    You have no idea :D . One time I flew along in a search and rescue chopper, here in the desert. One feature of that practice flight was an approach to an emergency pad in the bottom of a canyon. Pretty narrow canyon, seemed like the rock walls were just a few yards away on either side (ok slight exaggeration). The "pad" he touched was just the size of the skids, no more. Amazing (and frightening) experience :eek:

    But I'm happy to report there was no swell in the canyon that day,

    Yea, my dads a helo pilot, and even though he flys a schwitzer, it can get pretty exciting. I cant imagine landing on a yacht... :eek: ...im sure if anything starts to go wrong, the number one rule is crash AWAY from the boat. :D

    I don't know if someone can answer this question, but how long does it take for Ilona to prepare for the landing of the heli, and then how much longer before she goes down in the trap ? Would the entire operation take 1 1/2 hours ?
