I own a 1988 38 Carver. My fresh water guage stopped working recently. Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Get to the sender, check for voltage on the sender, then jump the two wires on the sender and see if the gauge pegs. If it does, then the sender is bad.

If the gauge doesn't peg, check the gauge for voltage, if there is voltage the gauge is most likely bad.

Water Gage sending units are in a wild world of there own. Electrolysis, Calcium, rust, and usual bad luck starts it all. 99% of the time it's at the sender. .5 somebody lost voltage the the system. .25 bad wire. .125 bad gage. .125 wrong prescription on eye wear.
There are a few hints in there somewhere.....

Agree, check the sender before you start pulling gauges.
