Mogambo and Graffiti are in the shed but they will hopefully be relaunched soon. Any idea why they were towed inside again?

    Hi,

They might have technical problems or as both are seriously for sale, maybe someone has bought them and wants to change something.

    Hi,

This could well be the reason that the Boats are back inside ( They might still be in he water even though in a shed)

Graffiti is rumored to be repainted (might be interesting for YN and germanyachting), so I guess she has been sold and the new owner is not happy with the color.

Really? If that is true, they better choose a great colour sequence because she was fine how she was finished. Of course that is if you are right Milow.

The source is very close to the industry so I think she pretty reliable.
But you are right we have to see how she comes out and if that is true. I am not familiar with new paintings (maybe stupid question): do they have to grind her or can they simply overpaint her?

    Hi,

It might also be getting repainted because the first topcoat was full of dust, orange peel and other things that made the whole job unacceptable to the Owner.

In it's simplest form, To repaint a topcoat the existing paint would need to be sanded back to give a surface for the new paint to adhere to. This applies the same to a lot of the primers, sanding between layers after a specified drying time.

After sanding all dust should be removed or you will have the same problem again.

There might be dents. toolmarks, cracks or any number of other problems so what you hear is a simple re shoot might actually be a lot more than that in reality.

This would not be the only new boat to ever be rejected owing to filler/paint problems that require major reworks.

I wouldn't blame them, when you are paying that much money for a superyacht as the owner, i'd think you would want everything to be pretty much perfect.

    Hi,

If it is overall perfection that is sought, one could do better to look beyond these boats.

Even in the mainstream yards perfection in paint is something that they all struggle with, it probably isn't helped by the small number of companies that bid for the work and the small numbers of manufacturers that supply the materials.

Just an update for you guys. "Graffiti" has just been relaunched not as Graffiti though, she is now under brand new paint, grey hull similar to her sister "Mogambo" and off-white superstructure. She also has a new name, "FLYNG FOX". Totally interesting, possibly was sold again?

hehe, I was right! But even if the grey hull colour is great, I think it would have been much more interesting when the sisters have different hull colours... a dissapointment for Ron and germanyachting?

Well yes, because the two yachts are essentially the same design and to have them now in the same colours makes for two clones. The only difference is..."Mogambo" has the backward slanting grey splash and grey accent on the mast.

Yep, not gonna be the same now. I guess the grey will do better with the sooting problem it will most likely have.
