Did not see her in GH Marina. Hope she stays there for a week as I would have chance to go there over the weekend.
    Lovely Yacht indeed.

Now that I've resized your image from 3000+ pixels wide to 640, you are free to spend as much time as you'd like browsing this forum, where I'm sure you'll find all the answers to any question you may have about employment on a yacht.

YF really needs to use some sort of vBulletin plugin to handle photos. I have seen ones that automatically resize photos over a set dimension but still allows the user to click the image to view the full size photo. I do not believe implementation would be difficult except for the load on the server (don't know if this is an issue or not).

This is a very popular site due to the vast amount of information available here. I've seen coments that indicate that is an issue.

I am not sure how much of a stress this plugin would put on the server but if it is not much, I would think it would benefit the site.

I first served on HMAS Flinders in 1974 when she was based out of Cairns, Queensland. I served on her again in 1977. She was a great ship which spent much of her time working the great Barrier Reef, Northern Australia and Papua New Guinea. One of my best trips was to the Solomon Islands and Guadalcanal. She was however not Moresby's sister ship, they were totally different in size, shape and age. Also, the replacement vessel was named HMAS Melville, not Melview. She has certainly gone on to have a great second life, visiting places far beyond what we could have imagined when out surveying the Reef. That helicopter sure would have come in handy, when humping car batteries up mountains to power survey measuring equipment!

Thank you for the post, she is a beautiful boat.
And yes, it does make you wonder what Plan A was!
Maybe its referring to its previous life (plan A) as a navy ship :)

Further to my last post (ages ago) here are some images of Flinders on her first cruise following the NZ re-fit. Images taken by local photographer Ivor Wilkins in Tahiti.
These images are obviously prior to her re-fit and name change to Plan B. Note the superstructure is largely the same except for the upper deck where the spa and dinig area has been removed in favour of the helicopter pad and enclosed area forward. The crane is located on the forward deck as are the two tenders; one is/was a small "barge" for landing a vehicle on shore. I have more photos of the interiors before, during and after the NZ re-fit and again I don't believe there is room for a submersible. Apologies offered when we see photos to the contrary :)

Flinders had a very large survey hold in front of the superstructure. It was located under the crane boom and had a hydraulic lift to open the hold hatch, which opened forward. There was more than enough room for a small submersible to be stowed there. There are quite a few photos of Flinders in her Navy days on Facebook under the search heading HMAS Flinders. Included are pictures taken in the Hold. I would not be surprised to see this space utilised for a sub store.

Plan B arrived in Nassau today, I watched her sail in behind us and am very impressed. She docked near the Atlantis hotel and stands out, very pleased with her.

    I like the Eurocopter also.

From the picture in #63. What's in da box? I'm not sure if the security kids liked the photographer.

    Ok, my 3 guesses:
    1) a large backgammon set.
    2) a Gibson SG Special.
    3) looks like the box from Sako that a "reach way, way out and touch someone" device is shipped in.

What do I win if one of the above is correct?
