I have a 1990 carver 4207 with a aft hardtop. I purchased the boat and had it dissembled and shipped to my marina. I put the boat back together. The wires for the aft hard top overhead lights were not visable. We were in a hurry to install the top due to having to rent a crane and operator to place the bridge, radar arch and aft hardtop. We installed the top without seeing or hooking up the wiring. My question is, does anyone know where the wiring is fed from the lights to reach the switch for the aft hardtop lights?

Uh Oh. Now you know why that job shouldn't be rushed, everything should be marked, tagged and idealy the same guy puts it together that took it apart. If you're lucky there are access panels where the connections are made. Good luck.

The wiring is usually through a hole in the hardtop that feeds through the radar arch where they connect. I'm not exactly sure which side it is on the 42 but I would think port.

On the 3807 they are through the arch on the starboard side ...
The same side as the on/off switch to control the overhead lights.

Unless the wires were cut and tucked away the connections should have been very visable before assembly. Now, unless there is a well positioned access hatch, you're probably looking at having it lifted again.
My big fear is that the wires were yanked out of one end or the other when the top was lifted and the hanging wires were just cut off to hide the screw up. Were you on scene for the disassembly?

    carver 4207 aft hardtop wiring

There is an access hole in the starboard radar arch where I took a mirror and looked for any sign where wiring would come through. I could not find any sign of a hole where both the arch and the hardtop came together. I will keep looking. Thanks

I had to rewire the overhead lights on my '87 3807 ... I picked up the wires from the switch near the cabinet and refrigerator on aft deck. This was 6 years ago ... but I believe the wires come into the arch from the side not the bottom of the arch. I'd expose the area around the switch and take it from there ... when I was finished - I cleand up the two holes I had to cut with these .. I don't have a clue about the wiring but I wanted to congratulate you on the boat!

The 4207 is such a beautiful boat. It's one of my favorite carvers.

I just bought a 4207 also... po had it shipped and the wire to the lights over the aft cockpit were pinched and did not work... I found all the wires that go to everything outside, inside the top cabinet once you remove the panels inside the cabinet.... ther was no way I could make the wires hot so I just took a white extension cord, cut the ends and wired it directly from the lifgts to the push button switch, hiding as much wire as I could and used clips with sticky tape for the ceiling to the switch... temporary, until I get the nerve to bore a hole thru the metal radar arch at spot where the top is bolted to the arch... from there I should be able to snake a wire thru the top and then down thru the arch to the button/switch. To my surprise the arch is metal... when it was assembled they didnt even take the time to reconnect the radar or anything else that was on the arch.... I still have to figure how to get the autohelm, radar, spot light, chart plotter working as they are all disconnected, the rudder center gadget also doesnt work... po said they all worked when he bought the boat but had no need for them so never had them activated... I dont know anything about these things so will be an adventure learning... so what ever you learn I would be happy to learn from you.

    Sundeck lights

We too bought a 3807 Carver that had the quartz lights installed on the aft deck that are not operating. I picked up a couple of LED lights to replace the quartz stock lights. My mission next week is to run a new wire from the previous light locations to the radar arch and then down to the cabinet. I am thinking now where to install the switch.
