Hey, guys--hope you have your underwater cameras at the ready for tonite and tomorrow! Good (wet) shooting.

Already storming here on Friday night, starting as showers but now with steady wind and rain. Suppose to rain most of tomorrow. Big party tonight at the park, wondering how they are making out. I hit the docks for a little bit, stopping at some of the after-hours events. I think the economy must be coming back since we have seen more vendor, builder and broker events this year than in recent years.
Here are a few shots I was able to get of Hinkleys before the heavens opened up. Stop by and see Roe, Jim or Mike to get some great info on the different lines of Hinckleys and what's to come.

PB, you are correct on the latter, reason being is that the photo is clearer and crisper than the former suggestion of using a higher ISO, which gives more noise and clutter in the photo (but can shoot without a tripod). My way takes a little more work, but with a better camera and sensor results may vary.
Here's a comparison. For the first photo, the exposure is 2 seconds, ISO is 400 at f4. Definitely need a tripod.
The second shot has an exposure of 1/30th of a second but at ISO 4000, f3.5. A faster picture-taking experience, but a lot mor grain in the shot. I shoot like the photos will be used on a web page or magazine, so want the best results.

A few boat shows back, I took my camera (a good one) to the Sanctuary Cove Boat Show to share some of the action on this forum.
Looking at your photos makes me realise I may as well have used an old Kodak box camera.

That is Inception, along with Boardwalk, Elisa, SOC.

K, it really depends on what results you want and how you will use your photos. I shoot high-res, large format since I neve know if a photo will be used for commercial purposes. And I personally don't like noise/grain in the photo. Others may not mind so much, especially if the photo is not going to be enlarged. I met a buddy photog Dan last night shooting an event. His Nikon D3 was giving him great shots with ISO over 6200 (if I remember correctly). But he had some expensive gear.

To clarify, those two photos posted for the comparison were taken on two different nights, not at the same time.

In the electronics tent, it seems that every vendor has some sort of satellite product on display. On another thread someone asked what is under those domes, so here's a clue.
