Oh, the black and silver knuckle-draggers afraid of a few Bang Bangs?

No, good luck with the Opening, should be a real good'un.

Can't wait for it all.

Shouldn't joke about the bananas at half time. My son plays at a club where there is a team of the "older" guys that play after my son's team. His job is to run the beer onto the field at half time:D
Also Blair, thanks for keeping this yacht related...

You guys may like to hear that the Irish Rugby team management, not suprisingly perhaps, pointed out to the hotel manager where they are staying in Auckland that "...the boys like to have a few beers after training - but they don't always stick to that..."

There'll be no doubt about that at all, at all...

I went on a Seniors tour to Ireland once (I think) and the other team nobbled us at halftime with a big tray of the black stuff. The second half was not a pretty thing to watch.

Our goal kicker won us the game in the end. Unfortunatley we were on the train at the time. Banned for life from Irish Rail. :D

Struggling to keep close to the topic of yachting but can advise at least that the annual NZ International Boat Show is on at the Viaduct Basin during part of the eight weeks of the Rugby World Cup. The economic situation has really had its effect here too so not a lot to get excited about in terms of new local vessels.

The mainly Asian/North American/European billionaires keep building though and the top-end quality superyacht yards seem to have some mega$$$ work. Larry Ellison's very high tech boatyard at Warkworth obviously has built the current AC45 fleet for various nations' entries in the lead up regattas and no doubt the yard and staff will be used to the extent that the rules allow for the Oracle AC75 cup boat(s). The 75' bed multi axis router they have in place there is not redundant I imagine!

    And finally:

Share this in the interests of social harmony and domestic bliss!

    Dear Wife

    1. From 9 September to 23 October, 2011, you should read the sports section of the newspaper so that you are aware of what is going on regarding the Rugby World Cup, and that way you will be able to join in the conversations. If you fail to do this, then you will be looked at in a bad way, or you will be totally ignored.. DO NOT complain about not receiving any attention.

    2. During the Rugby World Cup, the television is mine, MySky, the VCR and DVD are all mine, at all times, without any exceptions.

    3. If you have to pass by in front of the TV during a game, I don’t mind, as long as you do it crawling on the floor and without distracting me. If you decide to crawl nude in front of the TV, make sure you put clothes on right after because if you catch a cold, I won’t have time to take you to the doctor or look after you during the World Cup month.

    4. During the games I will be blind, deaf and mute, unless I require a refill of my drink or something to eat. You are out of your mind if you expect me to listen to you, open the door, answer the telephone, or pick up the baby … it won’t happen.

    5. It would be a good idea for you to keep at least two 12 packs of stubbies in the fridge at all times, as well as plenty of things to nibble on, and please do not make any funny faces to my friends when they come over to watch the games. In return, you will be allowed to use the TV between 1pm and 3pm, unless they replay a good game that I missed during the day.

    6. Please, please, please, if you see me upset because one of my teams is losing, DO NOT say ‘get over it, it’s only a game’, or ‘don’t worry, they’ll win next time’. If you say these things, you will only make me angrier and I will love you less. Remember, you will never ever know more about rugby than me and your so called ‘words of encouragement’ will only lead to a break up or divorce.

    7. You are welcome to sit with me to watch one game and you can talk to me during halftime, but only when the commercials are on, and only if the halftime score is pleasing me.. In addition, please note, I am saying ‘one’ game; hence do not use the Rugby World Cup as a nice cheesy excuse to ‘spend time together’..

    8. The replays of the tries are very important. I don’t care if I have seen them or I haven’t seen them, I want to see them again. Many times, and record them.

    9. Tell your friends NOT to have any babies, or any other child related parties or gatherings that requires my attendance because:
    a. I will not go,
    b. I will not go, and
    c. I will not go.

    10. But, if a friend of mine invites us to his house to watch a game, we will be there in a flash.

    11. The daily World Cup highlights show on TV every night is just as important as the games themselves. Do not even think about saying, ‘But you have already seen this… why don’t you change the channel to something we can all watch?’

    12. And finally, please save your expressions such as, ‘Thank goodness the Rugby World Cup is only every four years’. I am immune to these words, because after this comes the reruns of the Rugby World Cup, etc, etc.

    Thank you for your cooperation.

    Regards,
    Your husband

To tell the truth, some of the big teams were lucky today. France and England could have looked real stupid by their play.

It's a World Cup, no matter how pretty, just win each match.

Agree. England played terrible. If the Pumas had converted more, different outcome. Wilkinson, who broke our hearts in Aussie with his kicking is passed his day too.
    As for Japan, good effort!!!

Edward was at school this morning and the teacher asked all the children what there fathers did for a living. All the typical answers came out, Fireman, Policeman, Salesman, Chippy etc. But Edward was being uncharacteristically quiet and so the teacher asked him about his father.

' My father is an exotic dancer in a gay club and takes off all his clothes in front of other men. Sometimes if the offer is really good, he'll go out with a man, rent a cheap hotel room and let them sleep with him.'

The teacher quickly set the other children some work and took little Edward aside to ask him if that was really true. 'No' said Edward, 'He plays rugby for Australia, but I was just too embarrassed to say.

    Dead right AMG.
When the AB's or the Wallabies are playing you could rob the local bank and no one would bother to hit the alarm!
Which brings me to a question:
    Where is K1W1?
The way the All Blacks are playing I would have thought he would be "stickin' it" right up this Aussie! I reckon they are in the running to win, that is IF the Wallabies are all on crutches

Bet he has premium tickets and is not in circulation!
    K1W1?
    You there Mate?

    Cheers!

    Hi,

I am very busy dealing with some of your long lost relatives whose heads do resemble a rectangular box shape with flaps that open and close uncontrolled on most days.

I have seen some of the games on a far from wide bandwidth connection maybe the fact that I have to use VPN that disguises my true IP Addy to connect adds to the delivery problems.

I do not think that either the Kiwis or the Aussies should bleat too loudly in celebration just yet given that neither has really shown a good performance against meaningful opposition.

    Whaattt?
More niceties from my Mate from the land of sheep, frightened, nervous sheep!

As for performance: agree the Wallabies=Poor performance but the All Blacks had a good show!
Now if they could just not choke....which they probably will when the Aussies finally get their game going.....

Go easy on the boxheads Mate,

    Hi,

An update for anyone who is interested but can't see it on the box.

The Pool Games ended and the Quarter finals have just wrapped up a few minutes ago.

There were a few broken hearts with the results yesterday and today that saw the current defending Champions South Africa dumped out by a very lucky Australian team who only had possession for 20% of the time.

Another nose bleed saw England , the other 2007 finalist driven to the Airport by the old enemy in Blue ( France).

Ireland were victim of too many leeks in Red Jerseys and were sent by their neighbours from across the sea - Wales

The All Blacks managed after a shaky start to finally get the ball pressed over the line after having all their points scored by one player in the shape of penalties up to that stage. They knocked Argentina out this time a team who were 3rd last time.

Next weekend will see NZ V Australia and Wales V France to decide who goes through to the final and who plays off for 3rd the week after.

After a weekend all mixed up due to time zones, F1 and Rugby, I'm knackered.

No one really shone in the games but I going to have a small bet on Wales to win the Webb Ellis Cup. I have a little feeling and no, it doesn't involve sheep. :D

    Hi,

When I saw those 5 words after the word Wales I had a thought it was maybe the scar tissue on your shins acting up at the thought of all those blonde beauties in the Welsh Valleys:D but following the next four see that you claim it doesn't.

It has been a strange RWC this time for sure but this is what makes it such an exciting competition. It is still very much the Home Nations V The Southern Hemisphere right down to the wire.

Do you really think Wales coached by a Kiwi who will probably be the next AB coach can do it on their first time this far into the competition and not having done the Men in Black for nearly 50 yrs?

I just hope the AB's can stay the course and despatch our next door neighbours smoothly next week and then whichever of the Northern Teams makes it through to the next week.

The first RWC final in 1987 was an NZ v France affair at Eden Park, the two having met previously in the pool stages, it would be great if it was the same this time with the same result for NZ.

Three of the 4 teams left have a Kiwi in charge and at least 2 others who have gone do as well. Not bad for such a small country to have invaded the global game so deeply. I just wish they could peak at the right time every 4 years not in between the RWC Years for a change.

Well a shabby Wallabies won against a shabbier Springboks.
That's the Rugby World Cup, play to win not for a medal in class!

So far the best playing team IMHO has been Wales. CLASS!!!

So if the Aussies don't win the semis & lift the cup, I am betting it will be a final with the All Blacks against Wales. With a win (Finally) for the All Blacks

Any odds on a bet Fish or K1W1?
i.e. I bet the Wallabies against the AB's with a Wallaby win.
    but:
If the Wallabies are out this weekend then Wales against the All Blacks with a AB win.
