    I like the Volante's powertrain, but for 15kn that diesel better be big...say a Paxman of 3500hp or so? I didn't know the Wally 118 had those little diesels. What are they, Yanmar 370s or so? Maybe I'll check the site for the info.

    Definitely awesomeness! Both that design, and the 70m are two yachts I'd LOVE to see get made one day.

    Lars the more I think about 2 turbines/1 diesel the better I like it for the big boats. A much faster combination if one has to run from weather or, Neptune forbid, PIRATES! :eek:

    cool stuff indeed! ... a nice high volume displacement design from Wally; I love all the light entering into the hull living spaces. Its mysterious that look... with all the glass supporting the sundecks

    I know, it`s the wrong expression, but i don`t know what to say if i don`t say more terrible. Of course it looks good, but the other wally yachts are much more beautiful.

    I enjoy reading posts by people for whom English is not the first language. It's fun! :) :) You would think the same of my efforts in your language too I would suspect. ;)

    And I will never correct your English unless it's a matter of grammar or errors in spelling.

    Help me someone

    I am a HUGE fan of Wally, their work is futuristic and individualistic.
    Here's what i want them to do. Design me a sailing catamaran, 50-60' in Wally's true design manner and colours with all their great idea's.
    Anyone out there bold enough/talented enough to try and sketch one and post it?

    Hi, I am a little surprised they haven´t done a multihull already. But I would think their concept of easy handling points to a trimaran, rather than a cat.

    I made a fast concept à la Wally, with a winged mast and wave-piercing sponsons and hope they don´t mind... ;)

    I have no details, as I made it right now, but probably a length of 60-120 feet and I could also think of a splitted boom with a double main-sail, butterfly style for downwind sailing.

    Interior as you say, clean geometrical shapes in an open plan.

    Well my design is not exactly Wally material, but it does have some (forward) thinking ideas. I imagine it could be Wally-ized.

    I don't know what everyone sees in these Wally things? :rolleyes:

    The salon looks like a corporate boardroom. The aft deck looks like the
    staging area for paratroopers on a C-5 Galaxy. The deck looks like it
    would have more wetted surface than Florida after a hurricane. The
    intake nacelles looks like somebody forgot to stow the fenders. And with
    a $24 million price tag, this Italian attempt at stealth should prove
    successful... because I doubt you'll ever see one!

    Stick a mast on that thing! :D :p

    Well, personally i love it, but it's a taste thing, no more, no less, but i fully understand your view, which is part of its appael; it's a "you love it or you hate it" thing.
    What i absolutely dislike about it is the absurd amount of fuel it uses...

    Personally, i would be VERY happy with one of their tenders:)))

    As >tantetruus< has written, its your choice to love or hate this thing, cause it looks not similar to other designs.
    But it is possible now, to build a rc-model of the 118. Powered by two big jets (40mm) and E-motors: www.schiffsrumpf.de
    So you can drive your jetmodel with "similar to Wallydesign" for small money, sitting on the deck of a usual yacht...
    :)
