I know is not a Viking, I know is not top rated... I search the web and find a lot of good reviews. The bank is selling in 90k. Is a repo and one year sitting. Have cummins 450 diamond. Needs carpet some interior and a complete detail. Motor have 389 hours. Is big and have all commodities my family needs. Did someone here has owned one or know this model. People what you think?
Interestingly those maxum sportsyacht were pretty well built. I had a 1998 3700 for a few years and didnt have any issue. Never even had to call the dealer for anything! The 41 and 46 were built by the same department and I ve always heard good things about them In fact, many believe that these maxums were a much better buy than another well known and more expensive Brunswick brand which led brunswick to eliminate the larger maxums and merge them into the then new meridian line
I did a delivery of one of these from Fort Lauderdale to Connecticut about 6-7 years ago and I thought the boat was well laid out, had good speed for the engines and was comfortable while underway. Yes there are better built and more expensive boats out there but for a coastal cruiser at $90,000 that sounds like a good deal. You have to be careful with a repo, it may be perfect but the previous owner might have neglected more than the payments. Make sure that you get an engine surveyor besides the hull surveyor to check it out.
I ran a 46' from City Island, NY to Baltimore MD. I was pretty impressed with it's ride and would say it rode a little better than a comparable Searay. It seemed to be fairly fast.....around 24-26knots at cruise and fuel efficient. I second that it appeared to be fairly well built......
Any owner out there. I think I'am going to pull the trigger Brand dint motivate me but really like the boat. More details...
Quite a few Maxum locally, and I must say the ones built after 1995 have been one better to the other. Maxum improved a lot in recent years. Pity Brunswick scrubbed off the brand....
Pretty good,... ..., for plastic boat - so sayeth Pascoe, Lord of surveys: http://www.yachtsurvey.com/boatreviews/maxum46.htm 90Gs - pretty good price. Cheers! Eric
