Saw Valor again in Stamford last week, the good news is that she's still there, the bad news is that winter took a toll on her... sad sight. couple of days ago I was flicking thru channels and here she was, in her prime on Wedding Crashers.

She is a great boat and you can feel the retun of her soul!

Sitting behind Washingtonian as I type this message, simply stunning yacht. The varnish work on the transom alone represents untold hours of work, I can read my morning paper in it's reflection. Quite a yacht. I don't know Eric but I've got to spend more time boating and less time looking...

Here is a trio spotted at Coinjock Marina Freedom, Innisfail, and Enticer !

I know I have other photos of Washingtonian somewhere, but here's a stern shot from earlier this year in Palm Beach.

Innisfail, the former El Presidente I'm told, is a beautiful late 1930's Trumpy. My friends captained her until recent, including the yard period earlier this year where her bow was rebuilt to the original style (removed the beak).
These shots are from her relaunch party at Marina Mile Yachting Center in Ft Lauderdale, where she spent a few months in the graving dock.

Wonderful photos Tom! That evening shot of Innisfail is stunning. I see that the owner had her stem re-made back to the original design. I know that was on their list. She looks great.

I spent some time aboard Sea Tabby yesterday at Atlantic Yacht Basin in Great Bridge, Va. I will post a few photos.

The craigslist offering may well be "Tramp" built under contract #100 in 1919. She was last known to be located in Key West. Tramp is one of the oldest surviving Trumpy/Mathis yachts.

She is certainly a significant piece of American yachting history.

I did a sea trial last week and saw at National Liquidators on the New River here in Fort Lauderdale a seized Trumpy. I was at the helm and with other boat traffic and approaching a narrow bridge openning I did not see the name. The boat is not on their website, it often takes some time to go through legal proceedings before they offer the boat for auction.
This may be one of the very few Trumpys that has ever been repo'd, someone might get a good deal, it looked good from 200 feet away.

That is "Showtime" at Nat Liq.

"Showcasing new marine products by using them in the refit of a classic boat is an innovative idea and one way of preserving classic boats - and seven US marine companies are doing just that. They are currently refitting a classic Trumpy motoryacht, with the idea of sailing the resultant boat from one boat show to another. It's a model that could do well being copied in other parts of the world

The classic Trumpy motoryacht will soon emerge from a bow-to-stern refit to serve as a floating showcase for marine products at select east coast US boat shows. Leading suppliers Raymarine, Interlux, Awlgrip, Imtra, Ronstan and Edson, as well as Yacht Record, have come aboard as sponsors of the unique project.

Originally launched as Sinbad in 1969, the 63’ Trumpy will be re-launched June 20 as Showtime and make its debut at the American Superyacht Forum in Newport, Rhode Island on June 23.

In 2008, Showtime will be open for public tours at eight boat shows, beginning with the Woodenboat Show in Mystic, Connecticut at the end of June and ending with the Palm Beach, Florida International Boat Show next March. The complete 2008 boat show schedule is posted at the Showtime web site, www.showtimeyacht.com.

'Showtime will showcase the finest in marine design, craftsmanship and product development. The yacht will feature a wide range of products that can be used on all sizes and types of boats, power and sail,' said marine marketing consultant Jock West, organizer of the promotional tour.

The Trumpy re-fit is underway at J&J Marine in Somerset, Massachusetts, where the yard’s craftsmen will build and install a new pilothouse, galley and three Techma heads. At the same time, L&L Electronics will be upgrading all navigation systems. "​

The back story on the Trumpy "Showtime" is lengthy and complicated. With any luck she will at some future date land in the hands of a proper steward. Until then, there is much to untangle from a legal stand point. I will speculate that her arrival at NL is perhaps the beginning of that process.

I was involved in the refit of Showtime from the projects inception and it was a eye opener as far as who got involved. Everything was done in a professional way with no expenses spared. The idea to showcase new products in an older boat was unique and one that that I thought was a no brainer. Alas obviously it didn't work. It's a shame to see it at NL. The next owner will be well rewarded.
