The Marco Group is a company that has been constructing vessels from as far back as 1954 up to the present day. They may be known for the build of the Golden Odysey shadow vessel. Some of their recent deliveries include Tuna Clippers for one of the largest companies in the world and now they have two large yachts underconstruction. A 85M long superyacht and an expedition-styled 75M. The latter will be focused upon.

The rendering evokes the feeling of embrace for the design of this yacht. Relatively clean lines, especially sweeping classic passes in the overall design gives a slightly retro appearance. A highly rising bow ensures a formidable appearence which adds to build's persona as an expeditioner.

In charter mode, the expedition will accommodate guests in a luxurious atmosphere. Guests can choose from four comfortable rooms, Owner's stateroom and a VIP suite. There will be provision for 10 cabins for the crew of the yacht.

Onboard, guests will have choices in many activities. There will be a Gym, beauty saloon, Sauna and massage area. Formal dining, a widely ranging wine cellar, barbeque equipment. There is to be a heli-pad on the aft for alternate arrival or departure to the yacht while a sizable pool will be located on the Sun-Deck, to the fore of the radar mast.

Audio and visual equipment will take precedence in areas like the cinema and in the main saloon. These entertainment packages usually makes a significant difference to a yacht, especially in charter mode. Another package that makes a difference and is now really a norm onboard yachts are the Tender and watersports capacities.

    This Marco expedition will have 2 X 6.0M tenders ; 2 X 8.60M tenders and a number of jetskis. A swim-platform will provide a great launch-pad for watersports.

    LOA: 74.60M
    BOA: 14.00M
    Draught:4.2M
    Engines: 2 X 1,475 HP
    Guest: 12
    Crew: 25
    Type: Expedition
Highlights: Gym, pool, helipad, 4 X tenders, cinema

She has been towed from Chile to New Zealand where she will be finished. I believe she was going to be finished for delivery this year. In her present condition, it appears to be at least 1-2 more years. This brings to question, what will happen to the 85m Z?

    Hi,

I guess you know someone involved in it to be able to predict so accurately when it will be finished.

    Accurate ?

    quoting germanyachting;
...."I believe......" = Not sure. Maybe a vague memory from info read or heard ?

".......finished.....appears to be at least 1-2 more years"

Reads more like an educated guess to me. I think I would call before penciling
the delivery date on my calendar. YMMV

I know you have been in the industry for a long time and honestly, from reading your previous posts, I was expecting you to post something like this. As you can see from Andrew B.'s analysis:

I made sure what I said was conditional. I am not involved in the industry. I have been watching it for years and, after seeing the current condition of the yacht, I compared it to other yachts that I have seen in similar condition and made an educated guess. I personally do not believe that your response was appropriate as it seemed to have hostile intent for something that was purely opinionated. I apologize if, in fact, my reasoning to be upset with your response is incorrect.

Edit: I forgot to bring this point up. I do understand why you post like that. There are other members who claim to be apart of the industry when they are not. They state things as fact when they should be stated as opinion. You know what is in fact true so this can be somewhat frustrating for you and why those certain people get these types of responses from you. I believe in those circumstances that it is justifiable. The difference is that what I said was purely opinionated and speculation and I made sure that was obvious through the wording I used in my post.

    Hi,

I was not upset or being hostile about your post as far as I am aware.

I am just curious as to how you have seen the condition the boat is in that enabled your educated guess.

I apologize if my post was hostile at all. I have seen a photo "on another site".

Not sure whether this is adding much but the vessel must be fairly barren and unfinished as it was floating very high indeed. The lower ports were closed up with plate for the voyage from Chile.

The word about was that a NZ finishing team was to work on it in Chile but now it is being completed here.

The build name and possible final name is "U77" (LOA 77 metres) and the naming is seemingly consistent with one of the owners smaller vessels - called "U21" (LOA 21 metres) being a 50 knot quad diesel/jet driven Teknicraft foil-assisted cat. Eccentric looking craft perhaps but impressive. Quite humuliating how fast it has gone past us with rock-like stability and no wake practically!

The owners also have had the 164' Trinity expedition yacht "Ulysses" previously and whether this has been or is to be sold I do not know.

As is common, privacy and discretion is demanded by the owners so detail available in the public arena is fairly sketchy.

Some new info. You can google photo of U77 and see her in a familiar unfinished state. What's new, however is a recent listing by Fraser for a project called U77 by Marco Yachts. The listing does not mention the change of location to New Zealand but it appears to be the same vessel with some modifications. The renderings listed show one less deck and a redone transfer from what has actually been built.

A new release on another website states that this is indeed the yacht that's in New Zealand but it just has different renderings compared to what's been actually done.

U77 was loaded on Yacht Express in Auckland today, bound for Turkey and a new owner.
