Just bought our first boat

    She's a 1987 Carver Santego 2767 with twin 180 I/O's. Tomorrow, my wife and I are bringing her up the Chesapeake from Baltimore, through the C&D canal and up the Delaware River to Bristol, with the hopes of getting her to the Jersey shore for the rest of the season by next week. I have been reading posts in this forum and am enjoying the amazing amount and quality of information offered. I will be checking back often and I am certain I will have some questions as we get more involved in our new pursuit. Thanks to all!!

    Not sure where Bristol is, but why are you heading "Up" the Delaware. Leave Baltimore in the early AM, and you'll be home in the evening with that boat, or you can break it into 2 short days. Should the ocean kick up you can stay inside with that all the way up from Cape May. You can easily make A.C in a day, even on the inside.
    BTW, with the storms that blew through yesterday be careful about floating wood on both ends of the C & D. It tends to blow off the cleared land whenever there are strong winds and gather at one end or the other.

    Sorry for the confusion

    Good Morning, NYCAP, and thanks for the reply and the help. We're bringing her up the Delaware for a week or so because it is close to home. We'll spend the time outfitting her our way and getting used to her before we take the long trip around NJ and up to Barnegat for the season. That's the plan, anyway!! At first my wife was uncertain about keeping the boat at the Jersey shore but once I mentioned catching fresh crabs while sitting on the boat sipping Gin and Tonics...she went all in! :)

    It's not what you say, it's how you phrase it. You've either been married for awhile or kissed the Blarney Stone.:) Just don't mention all the girls out on Barnegat.:)
